I visited the John C. Campbell Folk School just before the holidays when there were week long classes happening. I sat in most every class for 15-30 minutes to get a feel for what's being taught and how the instructors and students interact with each other and the medium they're working with. I'm not easily impressed and I found everything... More

Although I have never taken a class there, many of my friends have and have positive reports. I have visited the campus several times, and just to tour, step into a class, and visit the craft shop are all things I find quite interesting. It is a special place. Even their catalog of offerings is really neat. More

My friend and I visited this site while exploring the North Georgia mountains. Wonderful place to explore, visit the grounds, look in on the classes offered, and buy crafts in the fabulous gift shop! After talking to several people taking the banjo, basket weaving, and cooking classes it is definitely something to explore in the future! More

This is an awesome experience. I live locally and am about to take my 4th cooking class. Currently doing clogging lessons there as well. Have attended their fall festivals (the best) and music performances. It is part of my life here in the mountains. You will leave with lifelong friends and memories! The Appalachians are gorgeous and this school is... More

I came to the area to check it out, wanting for the past few years to attend some classes at the Folk School. Not only was I highly impressed by my tour of the school but so pleased with the local area that I decided to move to the Murphy/Brasstown area! I am looking forward to attending class there and... I spent one week at the folk school learning pottery techniques. The instruction was excellent, as was the food and so were the people who attended various other classes for that week. Every week the classes offered change. Every night there was entertainment, i. e. fiddle playing and contra dancing. The town is tiny but the area is just beautiful.... More

This has been my third stay at the Folk School, each time using the dormitory. The rooms consist of several twin beds which share one full bath. Dining is family style, with plenty of second helpings. I always gain at least a couple of pounds here. Course instruction is top-notch. I've taken two woodcarving courses plus one in beginning dulcimer.... More
