We stayed at the campground right next to Foggy Mountain Gem Mines and it was raining so we thought we would try it out. It was quite busy. You can find 10% off coupons in local brochures. We bought a $34 bucket that our two boys ages 11 and 6 split. It was plenty for both of them and they... More

We were going to Sugar Mountain ski resort and decided to check out Foggy Mountain Gem Mining, since my kids were very interested in gems. It was indoor activity since it was very cold outside ( temperature in teens), otherwise it is usually outdoor. The staffs very very friendly. We decided to select a $34 bucket for both my sons... This is a fun experience!! I was unaware of how much family fun it was. The staff is very friendly and their business practices are very informative, and service oriented. The staff is as excited as you are about the stones and rocks, very good at assisting in cuts and recognizing best pieces for single or multiple cuts. I cannot... More

I was turned off by the price, having 7 kids that were insistant to go, went on a rainy day, they were so busy they had a waiting list! We left to get lunch with a promised return. Here was my chance to talk them out of it, No luck. We returned and agreed rather than buy a single load... More

We took our grandchildren (ages 11 & 7) and they thoroughly enjoyed their day at the gem mine. The staff was extremely helpful & knowledgeable. We all found nice stones. We were unsure about leaving the stones with them to be cut since we previously had an unpleasant experience at another mine. Today we received the three stones that we... More

Went on a weekday around lunch time and we were the only ones there. The staff were very friendly and informative! We got the Motherlode bucket with two people and were there for four hours including the actual mining and ordering our cut gems. We got five bags full of treasures. The staff go through your finds with you and... More

Had so much fun. The staff was great, and very helpful. Went above and beyond. It was so neat to find all the different gems and we found a good amount of cutable gems. I love that we can mail in the gems that we want to get cut since we were unable to do so when we were there.

I went to Foggy Mountain Gem Mine unsure if I would find any gems. To my surprise I ended up with several large rubies, golf ball sized garnets and many fabulous emeralds which will create a cocktail ring fit for a queen. The staff was most helpful as well. I had so much fun mining, and will have even more... More

Thanks to the young staff, who upon a long day at work, allowed through the doors at their actual closing time to "work" the gem mine. They remained as pleasent as could be in their review of our daughter's gem finds as it was well after hours. That pleasentry makes me highly recommend their business over a competitive gem market...
