My husband and I took our 5 year old granddaughter for a morning's outing. We got the $30.00 bucket which was perfect for the three of us. We were kept busy for a solid hour sluicing and sorting through to find gemstones. The best part was the sorting and identifying at the end. The young men are very knowledgeable and... More

We had a wonderful time sifting through our bucket to find all the hidden treasure. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the gemstones. They offer services to cut and set your finds into wearable treasures. Fun and affordable activity for all ages.

I was a little skeptical but we had a great time. I have to admit we enjoyed it as much as our kids. Great staff that teaches you about all the gems you find. We wound up with several sapphires, emeralds and many other interesting gems. We got the $34 bucket for 3 kids but saw others with the bigger... More

Family friendly, kids loved it. Husband decided to get 2 rings from gems we collected. Would definitely do it again.

This was by far one of the best experiences of our weekend. The employees were all very helpful. They even took the time to make sure my youngest was able to, "mime wocks" as he said. While the kids played my husband even managed to sneak a beautiful surprise gift for me! I can truly say it's fun for the... More

We had an amazing time at Foggy Mountain this past week. Everyone was so nice and very informative. Jessie took the time to explain each stone we found and also showed us a sample of what each one would look like once it was cut. The atmosphere was very organized and they had a vast array of stones in their... More

Best place in Banner Elk/Boone to gem mine. When your all done they take time to discuss with you what you found. All of their staff is super friendly and most are actually educated in geology or gemology. So not only is it fun it's educational. When it's all said and done you can even have them turn what you... We showed up around noon, and it was relatively busy. They acknowledge us right away. Very well displayed show room despite construction going on. Daniel and staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A pleasant staff to talk with. They stayed until all customers were finished, even though there was snow and several area businesses had closed for the day. A... More

Me and my boys (6&8) went tubing in the morning and then were done with the cold by noon... Foggy mountain was the perfect afternoon activity. We got the 5 gallon bucket and it was just about right for their attention span. I will say I was a bit worried about rinsing rocks in water when it is 20 degrees... More
