We were up for Fathers day weekend and did all the tourist things with the kids. We have been to a few others in different places around the state. This is one of the better ones and the kids got several gems but we chose the cheaper end buckets and did not expect much just some fun family time. the... More

We had a great time and even went home with a sapphire we plan to set in a ring or necklace. I do recommend buying the larger buckets and sharing rather than buying the smaller individual sized ones. There are a lot more rocks/gems and bigger sized in the larger buckets. Plan to go early, it can get crowded and... More

Took my kids here for some gem mining fun. We hadn't been to a gem mine before, they all enjoyed themselves, as I did as well. We got the $34 bucket, but will choose the $50 next time. They had a great time finding some neat gems. The staff are very helpful & friendly. Will definitely be going back.

We had a nice time but they need more covered area outside to sit and mine gem's. Staff very nice and helpful. They really need a cash register just for ringing up items so you dont have to wait for 30 minutes in line while other people get their gem's identified.

I wouldn't say this was the best gem mining place I've ever went to I do believe they did lie to me saying the buckets was not seeded but that's ok I wouldn't have paid 55 dollars if I didn't know the kids were going to get something but other than that I can't say nothing bad about it

Recommended by the locals and we went with our 5 year old who enjoyed it. Found great rocks and even a large ruby which we made into a ring. Staff was very friendly and engaging, even with small children. You can go at your own pace and it is a relaxing event for everyone.

My mom and I visited Doc's Rocks last week and we had a wonderful time! The initial draw was that the dirt was from Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina, and we wanted local gems. Everyone there, especially Courtney, was extremely friendly and helpful. They were always at the ready to let us know what we were finding and to... More

We were recommended to visit here by Lee at Apple Hill Farm and we couldn't have been more thrilled with our gem mining experience. My girlfriend and I started by purchasing the medium sized bucket. The staff explained the the buckets were "unsalted and not seeded" which we understood as there is potential for finding anything! After carefully going through... More

We visited Doc's Rocks this weekend and my boys had the best time. The staff was knowledgeable about the different stones we found and very helpful. We visited another area gem mining place and it was $70 for a bucket but at Doc's Rocks it was $55. So glad that we came and we will be back next time for... More

We stopped by to try our hand at gem hunting. They have a sluce setup for checking your purchased dirt. If you are disappointed in your finds the usually let you try a second bucket for no additional charge. They show and explain in detail your finds and their estimated value. They will even grind or shape your stone or... More
