We did the loop hike (5 miles). It is a nice walk by the river. Easy for those who want to just walk and enjoy the sounds of the river. It is fairly level hike but if you want to keep hiking, after about 1.5 miles, it does start to incline a bit. Nice for families. And there are ricks... More

this is a state park, so there are no showers, but it's a lovely campground. There is a bathroom with toilets and sinks. The hike around the lake is perfect. In the fall it is spectacular.

The park and lake are pretty, and we hiked with our dogs. The path is fairly well-beaten and level. The odd thing is that the northern half of the trail is much more wet and rough than the southern half which has boardwalks, gravel, and is well-finished. Fun little excursion for kids and pets.

Visiting this beautiful park is a must when you're in Blowing Rock. It is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and offers pristine views of the mountains. The Lake is so beautiful, and there is a hiking trail that goes all around it. You can rent canoes and rowboats in the warm weather months and spend hours enjoying the peacefulness.... More

Beautiful scenery and plenty of benches to enjoy the lake view. Try to go when it's dry as there are alot of low spots that get really muddy & hard to get around. There is a huge beaver pond at the back and canoe rentals available.

This area offers many activities for the outdoor family. The lake is near by for fishing, boating and other activities in the summer. My favorite picnic area is one mile east of the camp ground just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and has many wonderful sites for a family. The trails are great and this area can make a wonderful... More
