Nice Trail and Lake Walk

Good even pathed trail. Nice for picnics. Offshoot trails provide more hiking options. Best for families.

As a North Carolinian there are many places to choose from of visiting and having great memories. Julian Price was my favorite place as a kid to go. Today I cherish those memories and when I go there- it is My happy place.

Good place if you are traveling with children or grandchildren. Rememberd in past years the kids tossing football in an open area close to where we stopped to picnic & running off energy. Also, some some good walking trails around the lake.

Here's a great spot for picnicking and wading in the stream. Plenty of parking usually, but popular with hikers and college students on nice days. Fine hiking trails from the parking area, and Price Lake has a good hiking loop.

We ventured onto the parkway and wow it was so beautiful during October. The leaves were breathtaking. It is a pristine park, where you can picnic or just chill by the creek

So you park and there is the lake, ok its a lake so not worth a picture to me. There are a few trails but they really lead to nothing and are boring. We packed back in the car and moved on

We walked around Price Lake and were a bit disappointed. It was only 2.5 miles with limited views of the lake. We mostly walked through a tunnel of rhododendrons which would have been pretty in June.

The Boone Fork Trail 5 mile loop offers AMAZING views and about 4 different eco systems in one walk. Walk it counter clockwise and you will finish the hike with a .5 mile flat cool down. It can be strenuous at times but def worth it.

Every time we travel the Blue Ridge Parkway, we stop at Julian Price Park for a casual diversion...It always turns into a double stop...the first on the picnic side where a ton of tables are intertwined throughout the meandering stream area affording a great picnic experience from spring through fall, and then to walk off lunch, we always walk the... This is another great place to hike and picnic. This makes a large recreation area since it is adjacent to Moses Cone Memorial Parl. Highly recommended for outdoor activities if you are in the area.
