I loved the history and different inscriptions on tombstones. Within walking distance of Beaufort Inn.

Revolutionary and Civil War cemetery. Be sure to see the soldier buried standing up! Well within walking distance of the Historic District and right by the beautiful Ann's United Methodist Church which is also beautiful at sunset.

The graveyard is extremely old, and if you can, find someone to tell you the stories both fact and fiction of the older graves If not, pick up a brochure. The burying grounds is well-kept and the trees, with Spanish moss hanging from the branches, is perfect for a quick tour ands great spot to develop a summer school report.... More

We went in October and it is absolutely beautiful. Full of history and serenity. Great place to take pictures and see some of the history of the headstones of Beaufort!

Walk around and feel the past, look at the names and dates and be ready to be moved. Get a brochure at the Maritime Museum and find the graves of the pirates and the captains, and leave a present for the little girl. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

The stories were amazing especially that of the 11 year old girl and her decorated tomb. A lot of mystery here.

The walking tour of the Beaufort Historic Site Old Burying Ground is a must for any history buff visiting Beaufort. The pamphlet available at the Beaufort Historic Association's shop provides an introduction, but the better option is to take one of the tours offered by the Beaufort Historic Association.

This cemetery is located between the church and what I believe was the office. The gates are locked at five. Wear comfortable shoes fore it's uneven walking paths. Revolutionary & Civil War soldiers are buried here as are settlers that were killed during the Tuscarora Indian War of 1711. There is a little girl's grave here with a wooden headstone... More

We had stopped and heard a few of the stories at the tail end of a ghost tour so we went back the next day. The guided tours were done for the year but there is a pamphlet for a self guided tour just inside the gate. The cemetery is beautiful, but some areas are getting a little overgrown, mostly... More
