Serene and so unique! Like a time capsule you walk through. Otherworldly with the gnarly trees and illegible headstones. Could have hung out there is the cool shade all day!

If you enjoy learning about local history then be sure to stop here and take the self guide. You pick up the pamphlet when you enter and you are able to take a leisurely walk. We first learned about this place when we took the Walking Ghost Tour.

This Burying ground is so interesting and the pamplet identifying different people/family history is fantastic. The grounds are well maintained and again so interesting. Will visit again when we have more time to explore

We were looking for a way to experience history in the Beaufort area. The Old Burying Ground was recommended by a fellow camper, we were not disappointed. The graveyard is a unique experience. We enjoyed the self guided tour and available guidebook. The grounds are over grown in places but with care we could explore and be respectful. We were... More

The self guided and brochure of the cemetery was very useful and easy to follow. There was a grave , headstone with pennies and other coins....I wished the brochure had that bit of info on why the coins were placed there. The cemetery was peaceful and fascinating , I would recommend the stop , it takes about 10 to 15... More

I absolutely loved this place. So many stories and so much history in this one place. Make sure you pick up a brochure as you enter the burying grounds so you can read the stories of certain people buried here.

I find a cemetery interesting. There is history and intrigue on the headstones. Take a stroll and try to understand what life was like in times gone by.

Step back in time to the mid1700's and experience the life when Black Beard roamed the waters off our coast. The grounds are filled with enchanting stories of the occupants. Otway Burns, the British Soldier buried standing up, the girl in the rum barrel are just a few of the true stories this cemetery has to offer.
