The best thing about Sugar are the lifts and slopes. The restaurant leaves something to be desired. Food is not only over prized but bad. In addition to giving people old stale fries the immature help (note 5 helpers for one cash register!) pass the time making fun (yes laughing in front you) of customers on how they dupe customers... Sugar Mountain is the best place for skiing in the South! Snowmaking and ensuring the best possible snow conditions is their top priority. The snow guns can be annoying so just ski far away from them. The grooming is well done. Early in the season some slopes are still closed but the open trails are really nice. There is a... More

It was raining and our passes looked "suspicious" even though we had receipts. Their customer service approach was to call us trespassers and kick us out of their office with their goon squad. Then to top it off they let us know how much they didn't like giving us military discounts and told us how their ceo makes them do... More

We went skiing for the first time at Sugar Mountain and really enjoyed ourselves. Brett was a great instructor who was patient with us and helped us feel confident enough to try the "bunny hill" on our own. The package included lift ticket, rental and lesson for about $64 a person!! It looked like the more experienced folks were enjoying... More

We have a blast at Sugar Mountain, even that we went on "Black Friday" the lines weren't crowded. We did the 4pm session and my kiddos -first time tubing have a blast. Very secure and friendly staff. Definitely we want to come back. The bus shuttle is awesome , so you don't have to walk from the lowest parking area... More

Due to some unusual early season snow the resort was up and running. The day after Thanksgiving was very crowded. The snow was very good. Unfortunately the snow guns were going full speed resulting in poor visibility and extreme noise. This is definitely a beginners mountain. I had no less than 3 people ski or board into me. However, had... More

My kids took a ski lesson this past weekend at Sugar Mountain and it was a complete waste of time. Kids spent most of the lesson standing around doing nothing. Sugar Mountain Ski School needs to retool.

I came here with my nephews (8 and 11) , my husband, my brother and his wife for snow tubing. We decided to go at the 4pm session as opposed to the 2pm session and boy am I glad we did. Half the people at the 4pm session which meant twice the fun! It's an 1.45 hour session so the... More

My family and I enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, if you don't want to fall twenty times like I did, invest in the ski lessons before jumping on the slopes!! Though we fell, we enjoyed ourselves and the staff were very friendly and helpful!! It cost us $50.00 less because we went during the night session (5-10), rented our skis and sticks,... More

Resort Reality for rentals on Sugar Mountain. We stayed at the Reserves, our unit was like home. Everything you need to cook in with the well stocked kitchen. Unit # 25C. Recommend it highly.
