My boyfriend and I went to the slopes at Sugar Mtn back in February and had a great time! It was 80s weekend at the resort so everyone was in bright colors and 80s style gear/clothes! They also had different events going on throughout the weekend that made it even more fun. I think they create slopes for all levels... More

this is a nice resort; we are here on a timeshare exchange; the accommodations are comfortable; the view is spectacular; the rooms are well furnished; beds are comfortable; it's quiet; there are few activities; but there is a pool, hot tub, game room; our unit has a huge fire place; 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, it can sleep 8 with the... We vacationed at Sugar Mountain during a mid week, late February. For a south east resort, Sugar Mountain trumps all! We are both instructors at another location and what I appreciated most about Sugar is that they have their ski / snowboard school completely separated from the rest of the slopes. Having a separate instructing yard is important in getting... More

Enjoyed cabin rental offsite just a couple mi from slopes. Service was quick despite so many customers and we were skiing in no time. Wait times approx 7-10min for the lift. Food is expensive and typical for a ski lodge. Seen worse, seen better. Can't really compare to out west so for Carolina skiing Sugar hit the spot.

If you are in the Linville, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mtn area of N. Carolina in the summertime...I would not recommend the Scenic Lift Ride. You cannot really see anything. At such a high elevation you would think the view would be fantastic but both sides of the slopes are dwarfed by 70' high trees and the only thing you can... More

My son (6 years old), and my daughter (12 years old) loved the mountain. The upper mountain was a little icy, but that is normal for mountains in this location. The staff was very nice. We stayed in a cabin about 3 miles away. Next year I will stay in the cabins at the slope. I wouldn't advise this mountian... More

Great slopes when in season and groomed fairly well. I was in school at Lees-McRae when I learned how to snow board and kept going back even after I left. Try to go when the base get thick. They blow snow weever possible.

My friend and I took her two sons (ages 6 and 8) to Sugar Mountain for a long weekend this winter so they could learn to ski. The experience had been okay the first day - the townhouse on the mountain was plain, but convenient; the boys learned the basics of skiing in ski school; and my friend and I... More

Went to ski earlier this year. Not a great big resort, thats for sure. only a couple of actual " runs" worth doing. Not much to say about this place, the actual resort is OK, not run down at all, people were very nice, just not much in the way of runs to choose from. But, if you are within... More

This resort in the Carolinas is decent for where it is located. Some of the trails are very narrow and don't allow for much speed. There are some wide trails but they are short. They are all pretty short but it will do in a fix when you can't make it out West or up North for the weekend. The... More
