We went to Hawksnest for some tubing fun today. The entire operation was poorly run and in general not even close to being worth what you pay. We paid $31 per person (2 adults and 3 kids under 12) for a 1:45 session on their tubing runs. The session was clearly oversold (sessions at 12, 2 and 4 all sold... more

We took a group of 100 in January and took more in February. We had a blast. Friendly staff and I certainly didn't mind giving that nice lady $3 for parking. Everyone was helpful and we all had a great time. Our group of picky teenagers have already put this on their list of things they want to do next... more

Hawksnest is terrible with a capital T! I went there with my 10 and 12 year old girls right after the early March snow storm. The runs had giant chunks of snow/ice that were very hazardous. The runs were not packed and were severely slanted to one side, not level at all. After sliding only ½ way down on two... more

It is true that they have a 1000 foot run, but the drop is extremely small. NO possibility of catching any air on the slow runs at Hawksnest. more

I wen't there on Jan-3-2009 with my four boys (ages 5, 7, 8 and 10) for snow tubing. After paying 150$ total for 1 3/4 h online the evening before we had to pay 3 $ additional to park the car. On the web site they suggested that the ammount of people per 2 hr slot are some how restricted.... more

We loved tubing at Hawksnest- tubing lanes (and there are lots of them so no wait time) are steep, long and fast! Our ten year olds took several days of snowboarding lessons and their instructor was wonderful- they'll tell you they had "an awesome time". As for skiing and serious snowboarding, I wouldn't recommend Hawksnest because the slopes were not... more

My family and I went there this morning, 2/21/07. What a HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT Hawksnest is!!! We checked out the slopes as best we could from the sidelines (since you can't go out there without a ticket) and decided since it wasn't crowded, we'd go for it. BIG MISTAKE! We paid $60 for the 3 of us for 1/2 day tix.... more

.My daughter went to Hawksnest to go snow tubing. After going down on the first run, I looked for my daughter and could not find her. The runs were fast and she had gone over the embankment at the end of the run. After getting to the top and letting the person in charge know, he said that she should... more

My family attempted to go skiing Dec. 28, 2006 at Sugar Mtn. They would not sell half day tickets before 12:30 so we had to get back in line. The staff at Sugar mtn. was not friendly or helpful. There were so many people there that we would not have gotten to ski much. All we saw were people waiting... more

We were advised by locals to check out this ski area. It's a hidden gem! They have great terrain and the area is laid out well. Just about all levels of skiers will find what they are looking for here. Best of all, there are virtually no crowds. Hawksnest is North Carolina's best kept secret. more
