the only way to get to see Bald Island is by ferry. We went on the 10am tour. The tour took us all around the island by golf cart. The guide was very good and knowledgable about the area. The tour price also includes the admission to the lighthouse and museum. We were able to spend the entire day on... More

First, let me say that Bald Head Island is really more of a resort destination, but if you can stomach the pretentious atmosphere and make it to the lighthouse itself, you'll find the lighthouse staff to be very pleasant, down-to-earth, and welcoming. To get to the lighthouse, you'll need to travel via ferry from the Deep Point Marina. Parking is... More

While visiting Bald Head Island we planned on touring the light house. This would have been our first lighthouse visit ever, to our assumed ignorance there was a $6 per person charge to climb the lighthouse. We did not pay to walk up to the top we admired from the ground. Unsure if most lighthouses charge to do so; guess... More

BHI is an unique place with much to do, and Old Baldy is top of the list. For less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks you can gain entry into the historic lighthouse center which includes a small but very informative museum about the island and the lighthouse as well as access to the lighthouse itself. The climb up... More

100+ steps to the top via a narrow staircase. Best time is probably early morning as it gets quite stuffy especially at the top. Worth the climb for the spectacular view! Went with another family + kids. The 6 yr olds were troopers all the way up and down.

My Aunt and Uncle got married at BHI in 2012, and while my family and I were there we decided to climb to the top of the lighthouse; it was one my favorite things we did while on the island! The view from the top is amazing- I took so many pictures I ran out of storage on my memory... More

Bald Head Island and the lighthouse are well worth the trip. Climb the lighthouse early before the heat of the day as there isn't much air flow inside. Amazing views of the island.

We decided to come up to Bald Head Island on our boat for an afternoon and visit the lighthouse. It costs $20 to more the boat at the Yacht Club and 5 minutes to get to the attraction. It was a pretty good spot and had a little museum house in the old light keeper's house. The lighthouse dates from... More

I loved climbing the light house because it has a great view of the island and I could see the ocean. I am a kid and I loved how you can see and learn about this lighthouse. My family always calls it old baldy. I love driving in our golf cart and seeing this amazing sight

Old Baldy is a well known light in the area. Have to take a ferry to access the island, no cars allowed. Can rent golf carts or bikes, but is a short walk from the ferry landing. Grounds very nice. Very little signage, map was somewhat confusing; just look up and follow the light! Tower is open at times, but... More
