We stopped in to see the lighthouse on Bald Island, but were too late to get to climb. However, we did stop by in the little shop and explored the grounds for a few moments (they open up at 5pm). It's pretty standard for a lighthouse, but it would have been more fun if we could have climbed it.

A must see if you love nature, such a beautiful peaceful place. We were here for a wedding but enjoyed it so much we will definitely be back for a longer stay.

This is such a fun lighthouse to climb and such incredible views from the top. My kids usually request a few trips each time, so we get our money's worth!

Although we had good photo ops from across the street. The entrance to fenced LH area was a small door in gift shop. A fee was charged to enter the grounds surrounding the lighthouse, even if not climbing, which we didn't do that day. This is the only LH we know of with this restriction. Since this lighthouse is on... More

worth the day trip. The lighthouse is beautiful and so is the island. We stumbled upon this spot by searching the area information on the internet. Worth the side trip, but not a place we would return to.

Old Baldy didn't disappoint one bit! Take a climb up the lighthouse and enjoy! You enter through the museum (gift shop) and can then climb the lighthouse. We packed a picnic lunch, rented a bike at Coastal Urge and rode to the lighthouse. Parked the bikes, paid the small fee to enter the grounds and ate lunch right there with... More

What a view! The whole family, even my 91 year old mother in law climbed to the top. We love this adventure on Bald Head.

It was an okay thing. Not much to see inside the lighthouse. The history part was cool, but you could have looked that up online.

It's an bike ride or golf cart ride from almost anywhere on the island! It's fun to climb to the top or just browse the museum.

If you're on Bald Head Island for the first time, check out the lighthouse. For a small fee, you can climb up and check out the little room at the top where the old lamps used to guide sailors back before newer electric lighthouses were built. Be aware that it's pretty hot inside--plan on a few minutes of looking around... More
