Loved this hike, although it takes a while and it is uphill it is well worth it for the view. The volunteers are top notch and I enjoyed going up into the fire tower. Don't miss the ledges behind the ranger station. The ruins are cool too although they do breed a bunch of mosquitoes. Not a difficult climb, I... More

Well I cannot say much for the views since when I hiked up to the top I was in a cloud!! Even for a cloudy day this hike was great!! I had no idea that there was an old ruins of a hotel from prior to WWII. Super fun to explore the old hotel for a bit. Read about the... More

Right from the get go this hike started off with a very steep hill. I thought 'OK, one steep hill, not so bad.' But it N E V E R S T O P S. Once you reach the top of the steep hill, there's another one waiting for you. x50. There are no areas to catch your breath, you'll... More

very easy trail, so a bit crowded in summer but pleasant nevertheless. winter is always quiet. beautiful view from the fire tower. Timber rattle snakes in summer so stay on the trail. been there several times without any problem though.

It's not really a hike in strenuous way. It has beautiful sights to see, and a short 3 miles to the top of the oversight section. One of my favorite outdoor activities

Abnormally mild weather makes this an appealing attraction in the foothills of the Catskill Mountain range, particularly if you need a group event. After just a short period of time you will likely begin to feel hot and have to take off jackets and gloves in colder seasons. You will encounter the ruins of an old hotel. A date above... More

This is perhaps the most continually strenuous hike I've ever been on. Relentless elevation climb. Stunning views from the fire tower.

Great views and an interesting ruined hotel about 3/4 the way up. You can climb the fire tower but not for those with vertigo. The outlook rock has wonderful views. Its about 1 /12 hour walk up and quite an easy walk.

I did this hike for the first time Sat (11/8/14) and really enjoyed it. It is a fairly easy hike terrain wise and it is mostly gravel roads. The most challenging part is that it is 2 miles uphill (constant incline)the entire way from the parking lot to the Fire Tower. There is not much to see while walking up... More
