Love this hike, with it's setting and beautiful views at the top. There's an abandoned hotel or other structure partway up, which provides an interest stop for photos. It can get really buggy up here, though, so douse yourself in mosquito repellent! I typically do this hike in the fall, when the weather is crisp & the views with fall... More

One of the best places I have hiked thus far. With that being said, I have been to many mountains and trails in the past and am a hiking enthusiast.

A nice 5 mile hike (2.5 miles each way). Great views at the top from the fire tower and overlooking the Hudson Valley.

August weekday and it was not too crowded. Excellent view. Good workout of a hike with a great payoff at the top. It's not a wooded trail. It's a gravel old road by ruins of a hotel. So don't expect total shade beneath a canopy of trees. A great 3 hour hike!!

Visit the shrine at the Buddhist Temple (visitors are welcome!) and then take the 2.5 mile trail up past the old resort ruins and to the Fire Tower (climb the tower...a little intimidating, but worth it!). The guides and cabin at the summit are informative and welcoming. You might see a snake or two (we did!), but they are less... More

It was a pretty steep hike up but wide path to the abandoned hotel. We saw a giant rattlesnake but people along the way were quite friendly and warned us. It was about 5 ft long!!! although being quite scared... it was worth it and we were all safe and sound!! Would definitely do this again! We were unable to... More

I went there for a couple times with family and friends. The view at the top is phenomenal and so beautiful. The hike is relatively easy for everyone. I'll go back there again!

After a steady 2 1/2 mile incline on a well maintained wide trail, you will reach the best view the Catskills have to offer. A great scenic view, and also a bonus, a fun tower to climb, and old hotel ruins to explore. A must do in the area.

The hike was perfect - strenuous enough but not too crazy. It took about an hour to walk up and slightly less time to return to the head of the trail. The view from the top of the mountain was amazing.
