The trail begins in Wilmington, after a slight decent, a steep climb up for the first mile or so and a few level areas in-between, so you can rest your legs and ending again with a steep climb all the way to the top. Plenty to explore on top, There’s a gift shop and a restaurant on top, You have... More

Visited July 2013. Family holiday with 2 teenage boys from England. Drive up was good with some great views as it was a clear hot day. Then trip through the tunnel to the lift and top of the mountain. Breathtaking views. We stayed for about 30 minutes in awe in every direction. Summer and on that day fairly quiet so... More

One can't be in Lake Placid without visiting Whiteface. We went through a cold tunnel to get to the elevaor that brought us to the top. At the top we had a great view of all the mountains around Lake Placid. It is advisable to buy the Olympic passport for $32 which gives free entrance to whiteface mountain, the olympic... More

Once you make it to the top the view is breathe taking. The line for the elevator was long so I decided to take the trail up the mountain instead that is a great workout but man you can't beat the views. The trail was wonderful but hard to climb up because it was steep but they did have great... More

Once we found the ticket booth and the entrance to the gondola it was a nice experience. The views are fantastic. The signage to understand where to buy tickets and where to enter for the gondola was awful and made it especially difficult for a handicapped person. What you have to do is drive to the top, one person go... More

Well worth the $20 per person cost! The Gondola takes about 10-15 minutes to slowly make its way up to the top of Little Whiteface and the view is spectacular on the way up! When you get to the top of the mountain, there are picnic tables and we saw tons of people drinking wine at the top! There is... More

We were recently in Lake Placid for vacation and decided to take the drive up to the top of Whiteface Mt. and were blown away by the views. There are several places to stop along the road to the top and each one wowed us but there is nothing like the 360 degree view at the top. It was a... More

After an unfortunate hiking experience last summer (up Marble Mtn and down the road) due to rainy weather and poor timing, I decided to completely conquer Whiteface by backpacking in at Connery Pond and down the other side. Thankfully, the weather was on our side this time and we peaked after hours, so we had a private experience with the... More

I agree with everyone the view is amazing. I would recommend that if there is more then 1 person in the vehicle as with us to buy the Olympic Sites Passport. $32 each for the passport which gives you admission to Whiteface summit, memorial highway, gondola on little whiteface, plus a couple of Olympic places discounts check out site. http://www.whiteface.com/plan/olympic-sites-passport.... We took the gondola to the "Little Whiteface" peak. The gondolas to Whiteface peak weren't in operation, however, if you wanted to, there is a road on the back side that stops just short of the peak. I've been there years ago, and it breath-taking. From either peak on a clear day you can see Lake Champlain.
