Whiteface may have made its name in winter, it has the highest vertical drop in the east, after all but it does summer pretty well too. The warmer months make Whiteface a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages, whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just an afternoon of beautiful views with your family. Take a hike along the Stag Brook Falls trail or Bear Den Mountain, play a round of Disc Golf and check out the area's most exhilarating, challenging Mountain Biking terrain. Or gather the family for an afternoon of taking it all in with a Scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride to the summit of Little Whiteface. Drive the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit, and lean into the Adirondack breeze as you marvel at the world below you. This well-known mountain offers exciting and scenic runs for skiers of all levels: Beginners do well on Easy Acres, which features its own ski school, novices and intermediates enjoy Little Whiteface, while experts head to the heart-pounding summit.

Nice drive up the mountain and beautiful view. We had a nice day so the views were great. The gift shop is a bit of a joke but other than that it's great.

The Veteran's Memorial Highway has great views as it winds up the mountain to the summit. Gorgeous fall colors. Cool castle with restrooms, shop and food. You can take the easy way to the summit via a walking tunnel to the elevator. Or the hard way which is climbing over boulders. I took the hard way up and easy down.... More

We rode up Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway just a day or two before they closed for season. The fall foliage colors were at their peak. As we got higher up mountain we noticed that the trees were all covered with ice. We took the tunnel and elevator to summit because we could not do the climb from the castle and... More

We had never been to Whiteface, in all of our trips to Lake Placid! We decided to drive up on the memorial highway. There was a reduced fee when we were there because the elevator was not working to the summit. We drove up and climbed to the summit. It is a spectacular view and I enjoyed it very much!... More

Most people come by car by the Memorial highway, but a climb on foot is also possible. Get up early to avoid the crowds and take food if you are coming after 3 pm - the restaurant may not be working. In any case the views are more than spectacular. make sure you go on a sunny day so you... More

I've traveled to lake placid numerous times over twenty years but never explored the Whiteface mountain experience. You have to go we went on a clear fall day and was able to see the surrounding countryside of color. This will definitely be a stopping point

Visited Mt. Whiteface as part of our Fall road trip. Drive from the base to the castle took about 20 mins. Had to pay a toll of $35 for my car and 4 passenger. You need to park you car and climb last few hundred meters. Depending on the condition the climb may get tough but worth the pain as... More

We drove up the mountain on a cool, clear, crisp, day. There is a fee to drive up (no surprise in NY). The summit was closed because of the wind and cold, so the entrance fee was reduced. There are beautiful views from the stone building and surrounding grounds. Unfortunately, the wind gusts made staying outside a bit uncomfortable. If... More
