Owner description: Whiteface may have made its name in winter, it has the highest vertical drop in the east, after all but it does summer pretty well too. The warmer months make Whiteface a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages, whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just an afternoon of beautiful views with your family. Take a hike along the Stag Brook Falls trail or Bear Den Mountain, play a round of Disc Golf and check out the area's most exhilarating, challenging Mountain Biking terrain. Or gather the family for an afternoon of taking it all in with a Scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride to the summit of Little Whiteface. Drive the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit, and lean into the Adirondack breeze as you marvel at the world below you. This well-known mountain offers exciting and scenic runs for skiers of all levels: Beginners do well on Easy Acres, which features its own ski school, novices and intermediates enjoy Little Whiteface, while experts head to the heart-pounding summit.

We went to Whiteface to ski after a significant snowstorm in December. Skied on a Friday, so crowds were minimal. Conditions were excellent, did not get the 'Iceface' experience. The hill is a great ski hill with fun trails for all abilities. The town of Lake Placid is worth visiting, as there as so many things to do after skiing... More

You drive to the top of the mountain after having a quick check of your vehicle to make sure it can make the climb. Then up you go to the top. You park and look over the Adirondacks and have the option to go to the peak and in the weather station. You can see all the way to New... More

Although we were off to a slow start (the green trails were mostly closed and only the Gondola was working), as the Thanksgiving holiday went by, we had more trails and lifts open and the ski trip was a success. Excelsior is specially fun for being a long trail. Also, Nate at the equipment repair shop deserves mentioning. After a... More

For a family or a large group, I would say "Skip the Gondola" unless you purchase the Attractions Package where this is included and drive Up White Face Mountain. While the streets are narrow you can stop at selected areas and take pictures. The view from Whiteface is fantastic and on a clear day you can see all the way... More

Set in the surrounding forests the car trip to the car park near the top is enjoyable in itself. Once there you can take the lift literally right up the middle of the mountain to the observation area at the top. There is plenty of space and amazing views at the top, as it is a not just a pointed... More

Breathtaking scenery! My husband & I were constantly saying, omg, omg omg!! The ride up & down the gondola is thrilling, beautiful... It was snowing atop the mountain, which was cool.

We drove up the memorial highway early in the morning and took the elevator to the top. It was a beautiful, clear day and the surrounding views were amazing. I would consider hiking it in the future but even the drive up is breathtaking. It is worth a visit.

We took the elevator to the peak, it was a beautiful clear day and the view is just breathtaking. Worth every penny! The drive going up and down is also stunning!

I am a self confessed scaredy cat, don't like heights and like both feet firmly on the ground. Visiting Whiteface Mountain, I was persuaded to take the gondola ride. I am so glad I did ...it was awesome. We had breathtaking views of the fall colours. My husband reassured me that the gondola wasn't all that far from the ground... More
