The last time I visited West Point was many years ago when I was dating a cadet. So 25 years later I really got the full picture. I was taking a big student group on their one hour bus tour of West Point. A magnificent place high above the Hudson River with wonderful million dollar views. Our guide was a historian... More

Spending time at the USMA gives you an appreciation for US Army history and tradition. We took the 2 hour tour from the Visitors Center which not only took us to the various Buildings and Locations around the post, but also gave us a wealth of information on the history of the Academy. Our guide was extremely well versed on... More

Sign up in the visitor's center for the bus tour. There are two ... a 1 hour and an a 2 hour. We took the 1 hour because of our travel schedule. It did not include a trip to the cemetary and I'm sorry we didn't get a guided tour there. But the tour takes you to the chapel, the... More

The place is heavily guarded and difficult to negotiate. There are paid bus tours, but your ability to see things is limited. Accommodations are poor.

Completed the 2 hour tour of West Point Academy and was totally impressed by the expansive campus and its infrastructure. I was impressed with the history of the buildings and reference to the many graduates. Big thanks to John for his knowledge and awesome tour. I can see the difficulty in coordinating a 2 hour tour and would like to... More

We visited West Point and spent the day wandering the campus (we have military ID's which are required for unrestricted access to the post - the tours will show you the post if you do not have someone to sponsor you). This post is both gorgeous and steeped in US Army history back to it's key roll during the revolution.... More

We took the 1 hr bus tour, which was nice. If time allowed, I would have done the 2 hr tour. Wish we had had more time to explore on our own!! In the Visitor Center, there are great displays about life at the academy. Make sure you have at least 3 hrs for the Museum.

The private company that does the tour of West Point obviously does not require any training of its guides. Our tour guide's knowledge concentrated on the Army vs Navy rivalry in football, etc, and the physical feats of the cadets. There was no historic context for what we were seeing and we spent entirely too much time in the Chapel... More

We were on a bus tour in the area and had a step-on guide. She was excellent. Knew everything about the college and was able to answer our questions. Learned about the rigorous path of study that the cadets follow. Beautiful campus overlooking the Hudson. Don't miss the protestant chapel The stained glass is one of a kind. Worth a... More

This is truly a must see for all. So much history to be seen as well as learned. Taking a tour from the visitors center was well worth it. We took the 2 hour tour and were very pleased, our guide Ed was so informative! I learned things I had never known, but will remember forever.Ed was able to answer... More
