Type: Specialty Shops, Shopping & Fashion
Owner description: Gabriel Chocolate is Western Australia's first bean-to-bar chocolate maker. We import the world's best cacao beans and turn them into "single-origin" chocolate bars at our Yallingup chocolate gallery, coaxing out the wide range of natural flavours that emerge from the different cacao bean varieties. Taste the latest range of chocolate bars being made, and sit inside or outside near the grass at Gabriel Cafe to indulge in one of our decadent hot chocolates, salted chocolate chip cookies or hand-made, chocolate-dipped ice-creams.

There's good chocolate and then there's stuff like this, and this is the real stuff. I am an old chocolate enthusiast, I used to mourn the closure, five years ago, of my favourite chocolatier in Trinity Arcade that sold the best Belgian grand cru. But now we have Gabriels. In my books, the best chocolate made in this country. The... More

If the Margaret River Chocolate Factory is a studio blockbuster Gabriel Chocolate is a small high quality independent film. Still fabulous. Different audience. I loved Gabriel. Who knew that Peruvian milk chocolate was different from Venuzuelan? It's like discussing coffee beans, but not. We walked away with three different types of milk chocolate and a 58% cocoa dark chocolate. The... More

There's no denying that the chocolate here was good if you like your standard milk, dark and white chocolate but it certainly doesn't have the same range as Margaret River Chocolate Factory and this part of the wine tour was just a little lacklustre.

We called in for coffee but ended up ordering hot chocolate, somewhat apprehensively on a warm Yallingup day. However the concoctions were all superb, tasty and not cloying, will do so again!. We also had one of the largest macarons we have ever seen, it was as tasty as it was huge. The eating chocolate is the main event and... More

We're thrilled to hear someone else thinks our hot chocolate works well on even a warm day! Rich (knock-your-socks-off-rich) but still not cloyingly sweet. Thanks for taking the time to write! More

They bring in their cocoa from various places round the world and then share with you the different characteristics and how they work to make quite different chocolates. You can also see the quite different pods - and best of all, you can taste and then buy your delights. A great way to get to know that special magic of... More

This chocolate place imported their own cocoa and make their own chocolate in the store. The chocolate is very REFINED and EXCLUSIVE. You can get all types and different chocolate from all country. They also have Very Nice Chocolate Ice Cream in the coffee shop.

Refined and exclusive - very nice compliments, thank you! We source some of the world's premium beans but keep the prices down because we believe good chocolate should really be one of the most "affordable" luxuries in life! More

Wow, I drive an hour every couple of weeks to buy heaps of the best chocolate I've ever had at Gabriel Chocolate. It is so good, I am now a chocolate mule for a number of my chocolate loving friends in Augusta. Nothing else matters about this destination. It's about the chocolate. And, it just so happens that it's a... More

Wow, a chocolate mule! How funny! Lucky it's legal. We're trying to make as much as we can here, but as a small family business it's tough to keep up with demand when we make everything from scratch, especially with great repeat customers like yourself regularly supplying your friends! (Tough problem to have, hey?) Thanks so much for coming back... More

I didn't realise that I knew so little about chocolate, I feel a little more educated now. Lots of samples helped me find the chocolate that I really liked and displays helped in understanding the origins of the various pods. A must for chocolate lovers. While you are there try a hot chocolate too-cocoa will never taste the same again.

Car tripping in the area, came across this very interesting establishment. An excellent selection of chocolate products and educational displays on cacao. Knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed hot chocolate, iced mocha and chocolate cookies. All very rich and satisfying. Worth a visit for that refreshment break.

Thanks so much for your comments. There's nothing like a chocolate refuelling station while tripping around the region (particularly for the driver - especially when the passengers have been able to enjoy all those world class wines!). We are a designated driver-friendly destination! Have a great Christmas and New Year. More

Visited on a weekday in November. This place is more chocolate shop, with the different varieties of cocoa and chocolate shown on the walls, and available to taste. There is a cafe behind which serves drinks, ice cream and cake. The chocolate ice cream was absolutely divine and fully worth it. One thing I would have liked to see here... More
