I had one of the most experience of my life inside this church. For female pilgrims, this church is an icon, a true celebration of thousands of miles walked along so many paths. And the image is beautiful!

Dedicated to the Virgin A Peregrina, patron of the province of Pontevedra and Portuguese Way of St. James the late Baroque Capela da Virxe Peregrina just off the Praza Ferreria is a symbol of Pontevedra. The church is notable for its curved facade and floor, which has an unusual scallop shell shape (reflecting its dedication to pilgrimage to Santiago de... More

This is a beautiful church situated in the heart of the old town in Pontevedra. Built on a floor plan in the shape of a scallop shell, the symbol of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. The Camino Portugues meanders through Pontevedra. If you are passing this way stop awhile and admire the interior.

Beautiful old church that is still in daily use. beautiful gilded woodcarvings all around, and interesting history to be learned. A good spot to get a carimbo for pilgrims (3 minutes walk from the ferry)

Well worth a visit. Unfortunately its in a popular square for street entertainers so if you want peace and quiet, go when it opens when they are no 'shows' on.

Very appropriate chapel for all of the Pilgrims walking the Camino. I was welcomed at the entry and sat for a while before continuing on with my journey that day. Very beautiful oval shaped church to be admired inside and out.

This place caught our eye quickly. It is not a very big church, but it is in a prominent position in the city. It's located on the Pilgrim route from Portugal to Santiago de Compostela. The shape is semi-circular (scallop shaped actually) and it's dedicated to the Virgin of the Pilgrims. Inside she is dressed in pilgrim's clothes, and there... More

La Peregrina is a stone-built church localised in the heart of Pontevedra. It was erected in honour of the protector of the city, Peregrina's Virgin. In mid August, the city hosts many cultural events, exhibitions, gastronomical festivals and popular traditions such as Peñas. An unparalleled party where people get organised in large groups and play war games throwing wine over... More

In the very centre of the town, near the old village and the commercial streets. This beautiful church is named after the Virgin Mary as keeper of the pilgrims. Seeing It at night is a must. Highlighted in the dark by blue lights is the focal point of the stoned square and It is sorrounded by some of the old... More
