I feel like this is sort of listed twice as far as locations go, but it is certainly worth listing twice. Axel Munthe seems to have been a truly extraordinary human being and the history of his life preserved in the museum of his home and estate is simply fascinating.

This house in Anacapri was one of the few places open cost about 7 euros, most places shut on a Monday. It is a Swedish Consulate as left by Dr Axel Munthe to foster Swedish/Italian relations. He lived a long life dying in 1947 at the age of 92, he was a Doctor on the allies side in World War... More

Anacapri, Italy, does not have that many tourist attractions and this one rates second after the chairlift up the mountain. Wonderful panoramic views of the ocean. Beautiful garden. Unique collections in his home. Nice old-fashioned stove and oven setup. I had never heard of him before, but plan on ordering his bestseller, "The Story of San Michele" (published in 1929).... More

An interesting house with a lot to see, the garden was my favourite part! A lot to see and lots of history behind this house and it's owner.

A wonderful combination of stunning views, quirky history lesson, beautiful gardens, some roman ruins, a small chapel, café, bookshop and nice toilets. Celebrates the life of a Swedish doctor who settled in Capri in the 1890's -I know it doesn't sound promising but my wife and I spent two hours here, thoroughly captivated.

Axel Munthe first saw Villa San Michelle in his teens and determined he would buy it. He became the youngest doctor ever to qualify in France, and with a panel of wealthy hypochondriac women soon raised the necessary funds. It's difficult - or maybe awkward - to say where he found the many remarkable treasures found within; according to his... More

The views themselves are worth the visit. Right next to chair lift rides so take time for a visit. Well maintained and worth the trip, my 3rd favorite on island after Blue Grotto and Chair Lift. Great shopping in area as well and bus stop.
