We had a lovely day out on this steam train ride and I would go time and time again. A lovely walk from the station and a horse & carriage ride back.

This is my second trip on this train, which has been operating with various steam and diesel engines down the years. If you like a touch of nostalgia, vintage carriages, a trundle alongside an estuary between Paimpol and Pontrieux then this trip may be for you. It isn't a cheap trip, but the views are worth it - and a... More

on a recent visit to the pink granite coast we decided to go back in time on the steam train that ran from Paimpol to Pontrieux, a journey of about an hour - the carriages were comfortable & the journey was enhanced by an excellent and informative commentary in english & french by the train's hôtesse - there was a... Excellent. Really enjoyed, although weather was a bit of a let down. Horse and cart takes you from the station into the town of Pontrieux, and had a good lunch in Pontrieux.

Reviewed this trip last year when a diesel was pulling the carriages. This year to steam train is back. At the halfway halt the engine driver will let the fit people clamber into the cab for photos. Took my own advice and bought items for a pique nique in the park that runs along side the river. Take the horse... More

We had already done the conventional train ride from Pontrieux to Paimpol which took about 20 minutes but decided to do it again in a slower and more interesting fashion on the old steam train. It gives you more time to view the scenery alongside the Trieux estuary and takes you back in time. Our hotel reserved the tickets for... More

On the day we travelled the coaches were pulled by a locomotive 100 years old, very helpful staff, tickets need to be reserved in advance. On our trip the train had a stop were cider and pancakes were served accompanied by local musical players and information on local history. Once at Pontrieux you had plenty of time for a relaxing... The opportunity to ride behind a 100 year old steam train from Paimpol to Trieux a quaint village that sits on the banks of the river Trieux. The service runs in the summer (Check dates through the web) with various events and also a stop in the countryside and a house surrounded in mystery of the Sezanac case of murder... More

An approximately half hour train ride between Pontrieux and Paimpol (or reverse) in Northern Brittany ( need to book in the high season, English speaking reservation clerk). Lots of opportunity to look over the locomotive and the rolling stock. The carriages were built before modern suspension systems were invented so hang on to the fillings in your teeth !! A... More

Went on this trip on the first week in September which is the last trip this season. This was a great day out. Going we sat in a 2nd Class carriage with a coach load of French pensioners and had a great time. They made a fuss of our dog Fritz. We came back in luxury in first class (... More
