Had a wonderful time on the slopes. Hotel was nice, but a bit dated. In general, don't expect good food in the resort...

A rather nice layout for a relatively smaller mountain. As it happened the temps were +3-6 degrees Celsius and the snow was getting very thin. The blacks are serviced by old fashioned tow bars which suck, however the greens and blues (and reds) have modern higher speed lifts. With lots of snow the blacks would offer quite a bit of... More

After reading a litany of terrible reviews on TA I thought I'd provide something a bit more balanced. From spending all last night reading reviews our expectations were of traffic snarl ups all the way up the mountain, parking miles from the resort, a one hour lift pass queue, queues for extortionate food, third world facilities, no snow cover and... I had been thinking about skiing in South America for years - I have a hard time going 6 month without being on snow. Finally said this is the year and went. I was not sure what it would be like and wanted to have options and see some of Chile as well, so I stayed in Santiago and drove... More

We were due to fly back to NZ on the midnight flight and our teenage boys convinced us that a days skiing in the Andes would be a great way to end our family holiday. We took the Turistik buses up the mountains and our boys who know no Spanish managed to get themselves sorted with gear and passes with... More

I'm just an average level snowboarder but even for me the gear from the hire place at Valle Nevado was ABSOLUTE rubbish!!! Chords breaking, bindings that always move from side to side on the board because they're so cheap and nasty that they don't screw tight!! Wasn't just a one off, my friend and brother hired gear as well and... More

First of all. do not expect western-US skiing here, but this is the best skiing in the Southern Hemisphere in the most beautiful country in the Western Hemisphere; I say the latter as I worked in Chile for 2½ years, learned to fly single engine planes here so I could see more of this elongated country, and know and love...
