I thought we could swim out to where the boats take the snorkel tours, but it was too far with my 10 year old. I was concerned about currents, and it's probably 200 yards from shore. You really can drift, and I'm used to swimming in the Atlantic...so we hung out closer to shore and saw some fish. We also... More

Snorkeling here is amazing! Swimming in shallow waters will give you a nice variety of schools of small fish. Swimming just a little further gives you a wide variety of fish in all shapes and sizes! However, the main dilemma is simply not knowing if we really made it to the right beach! There really was a lack of signs... More

If you don't want to do a snorkel trip on a boat, head to this beach with your gear and swim out to where the boats drop anchor, you will see coral and fish.

A must on the to do list!! This is a great place to do on your own so no cost. All you need is your snorkel gear & a camera. You can enter from the beach & swim at your own leisure. We saw lots of beautiful, colorful fish & large schools of them. I will say it is best... More

We did a snorkeling excursion here and enjoyed it a lot. The water is calm and clear and there are plenty of fish to see. Would recommend it to anyone looking to see lots of colorful fish and doesn't happen to be an awesome swimmer.

Before I take a trip I read about places I am planning to visit and about snorkeling spots. I read "snorkeling like in aquarium", however, the place hardly meets my expectations. Boca Catalina hit the spot! Drive up (15 minutes from our hotel), park (and it is so easy!!!), get your gear and step down sandy entrance into the reef.... More

Rent gear from Red Sail Sports at the Marriott and snorkel here if you want to skip the boat trip. Lots of fish and coral. Easy parking and beach access.

The fish here come to you because they have been feed by the tours...which means it is never hard to find lots of fish!

It could have just been that there was a lot of sand stirred up that day, but I didn't see much diversity, most of the corral was dead and it was tough to get in to because the bottom is so rocky.
