Boca Catalina is a good off the beach snorkeling site. You know you are in the right place because you see the tour boats arrive here with a boatload of snorkelers. The beach is rocky, so it can be a bit difficult getting into the water. However, no current or waves. There is no need to swim out where the... More

This is the beach where all the boats stop for snorkeling. If you swim well and you bring your own gear you can do your own snorkeling and explore. Well worth it! Once you get to the beach if you head to your left you can walk across to a hidden bit with some private houses. They have their own... More

Bocca Catalina is a good off the beach snorkeling site. No current or waves. A bit rocky off the shore so be careful where you enter. We just watched what everyone else was doing. Lots of fish. We saw flatfish, squid, starfish, puffer fish, and all the usual Caribbean reef inhabitants. It can be a bit crowded at times as... More

Beach has a lot of rocks but the fish nearby are worth the effort. It is easier to reach starting from arashi beach

Is is difficult to find snorking spots without having to pay for a tour. This place is great for snorkling; specially if you are a good swimmer. Some areas were deep. I saw a lot of tour boats docked. I assume that most of this tour facilites bring the crowd here. You can do this for free as is right... More

We ended up going back over several days to Boca Catalina because there was hardly anyone on this little beach and it was lovely for snorkelling. Easy entry with lots of rocks close by the shore for kids to feel safe and see lots of fish. This is also a spot where the boat tours go - so if you... More

If you want to experience some excellent snorkeling from shore, then go to Boca Catalina. Just a short distance and easy swim from shore you can see beautiful coral and sea life. This is one of the destinations that the tour boats go to and it is easy to see why. We took a cab at the cost of $8... More

I thought we could swim out to where the boats take the snorkel tours, but it was too far with my 10 year old. I was concerned about currents, and it's probably 200 yards from shore. You really can drift, and I'm used to swimming in the Atlantic...so we hung out closer to shore and saw some fish. We also... More

Snorkeling here is amazing! Swimming in shallow waters will give you a nice variety of schools of small fish. Swimming just a little further gives you a wide variety of fish in all shapes and sizes! However, the main dilemma is simply not knowing if we really made it to the right beach! There really was a lack of signs... More

If you don't want to do a snorkel trip on a boat, head to this beach with your gear and swim out to where the boats drop anchor, you will see coral and fish.
