Oh my god I don't know where to start. If you haven't visited this place you need to. The atmosphere, the food, the people all were awesome. Met nice and friendly people and oh my god every food that I tried from Zanzibar Pizza, to seafood skewers and Zanzibar tea everything tastes good. I stayed in Zanzibar for 10 days... More

We went there twice - one during day time and second at night time but we did not eat the food there as we were not sure if the meat was there for how long? It is nice place and there were many local and tourists too.

Forodhani square was full of vendors selling traditional zanzibar food.. it is quite touristy so feels safe and the food was good. Around sunset there was quite a lot going on around the area, football/soccer being played on the the beach, kids diving/flipping from the pier into the water, boats coming and going, its a nice place to be watching... On (muslim) weekends an evening stroll is a wonderful experience. Lots of food vendors and families enjoying themselves. Wonderful to take in some local culture and customs. Unless you have an extremely strong stomach, it may be best to enjoy the wares by just looking at them. Eat at your own risk.

Nice place by day to look out at the water, but in the evening the space turns into the "Night Market". Lots of food vendors - grilled meats on skewers, Zanzibar pizza, fruits. Not a a market for goods. Watch a Zanzibar pizza being made - its a different than what a European or American would call a pizza. Then... More

We went to the night fish market at Forodhani Park. Great stuff, but the vendors were very pushy. It was very hectic there, with many locals beautifully dressed. Negotiate your price; we think we were ripped off. We were advised to avoid the crab and lobster, as it is often not fresh.

Best place to eat local street food and if travelling with kids there is a enclosed children playground that kids can enjoy hours of fun activities.

It is not my "thing" and all of the stall owners wants you to " view their food" free... I do not like being harassed when I walk around. Same food different owners.( this seems to me like a tourist trap area- but that is only my personal view- other people loved it) I do like to taste local food... More
