Great Covered Market

We took the bus here and it was a great market, Mon - Sat 6am till 6pm. There was no hard sell and you were able to browse at leisure.

It's great to have a colourful market in Grand Baie selling everything from Mauritian-style pareos and Dodo embroidered tablecloths to imported pearls but beware the inflated prices. For anyone with no experience of how to negotiate, be wary of the prices and don't accept the first price you're given. Many of these vendors are highly-practised at selling their wares at... More

interesting to mingle amongst the locals. the shopping at the markets is apparently a big tourist attraction. the locally produced good are worth purchasing as a souvenir, however the authenticity of international brand name apparel is questionable

Lots of fun and really colourful. Combined with a trip to Grand Baie, it makes for a really lovely morning.

Cheap as chips, good to shelter from a tropical storm on our last day of our holiday. Usual major haggling to be done from over inflated prices. Offer 1/4 of what vendor wants, ignore hurt expression, and the haggle begins. Usually get for half original price. If not walk away, you'll get it for the price you want. Nice eatery... More

Nice walk around at the New Mall or catching a boat/Catamaran to Gabriella Island (you have to experience that!)

Looking for value gifts, souvenirs, local clothings in Mauritius. A visit to Grand Baie Bazar (between beach and Super U Mall) is MUST. About 50 -60 small shops within Bazar and many along the lane, just outside would meet all your requirements. Try good bargaining, though. You will get variety, quality at your price. Market open till Lunch on Sunday... More

Loved to be amongst the hustle and bustle but nice to be away from all that in our hotel. Super U Shopping Mall was nice to look around. There were plenty of eateries there.

I didn't like the bazaar there is a big man that gets called over to bully one into buying whatever one shows even the slightest interest in.Its offensive and unpleasant. The shops in the road outside the bazaar have friendly staff and wonderful things to purchase. Don't go to the bazaar it was an awful experience
