The Parrish Museum moved from Southampton to Water Mill about 3-4 years ago. We love it as our neighborhood museum. The building is barn like with great northern light. Many of the contemporary artists such as Chuck Close, Pollack, Jane Freilicher, de Kooning,Lichtenstein, Rivers are shown. There are also lovely paintings of Fairfield Porter and William Merritt Chase. In the... More

The space fits in perfectly to the community. Set in a farm like field is this large minimal modern barn which houses a variety of art work. They often even display local student's work. There is a cafe, which I suggest taking the time to slow down and enjoy the entire experience. There are lockers to put your coat etc..... More

Okay, I will admit, at least for me, would I welcome the change of venue and style for this Southampton Jobs Lane dowager queen? Went there for the first time last night, for "Parrish Presents," their Black Friday blowout fundraiser and sale. Despite the rather austere setting and outdoor architecture, inside I found lots to like! Exposed beams, lots of... More

Though this is quite a small museum, the exhibits are super awesome, modern, and unique. My mother and I went early in the morning (when they had just opened) before leaving the Hamptons, so we were pretty much the only ones there - I'm not sure how crowded it normally is, otherwise. The gift shop has some cool stuff that... More

light streams into this building, which in itself is a piece of art. They have a wonderful collection of local connection pieces on display. A beautiful place for an event or wedding. We stayed at the inn next door, which was perfect for dashing across to.

Great building with lots of light, lofty ceilings. Modern art with some historical paintings from local artists. Special show at the time somewhat bland. Would return for special events.

This is an amazing space for art to be exhibited in. Our whole family enjoyed our trip out to the vineyards on the east end, but the highlight was the Parrish Museum. What an eclectic space for enjoying art. We have been here multiple times while enjoying our beautiful Long Island. Admission is $10, 8 for seniors. Worth every penny... More

I'm staying in Sag harbor for a few days with relatives - one of whom did me a great service by taking me to the Parrish Art Museum. The current exhibits included some fantastic landscape photography by a German artist, Andreas Gursky - born in 1955. Mr. Gursky has on display a collection of over-sized prints - about 6 feet... Delightful museum of contemporary and modern art housed in a stunningly modern space. The building, designed by Herzog and de Meuron, is as much a work of art as what's within. The shed-like interior allows for an uninterrupted linear flow for exhibits. The landscaping on the terrace and the grounds are also works of art unto themselves. Don't forget to... More
