Visited the applewood orchard and winery last month. Nice drive , ample parking . We went on a weekend which was very crowded so get there early. I was a little disappointed with the orchard . The trees did not have any apples except at the top which we couldn't reach. There was a whole section of the orchard closed... More

We went on a Friday in early October, it wasn't crowded at all. They are dog friendly too, so our dog came along. We walked all around the orchard, it's a big place, and found tons of apples. It was nice to just sit in the shade and eat an apple. The people working there were very friendly. There's no... More

This is a pleasant enough place, but there are so many beautiful wineries around the area - it just doesn't rank up there with the others. They do have a nice patio and on many weekends live entertainment. It is worth the visit, but not if you are looking for something special.

Received a bottle of Applewood Wine as a gift...my husband really enjoyed it (it was a sweet dessert wine; not generally what I would drink). We dropped in for a tasting and we both found wines to our liking. During the warmer months, I am told that there is entertainment on Saturdays; we are looking forward to returning. Wine tasting... We went here for the first time today and despite them having almost NO apples left, they were STILL selling bags for picking. We complained to one of the men in charge who blamed it on us for going to the wrong part of the orchard---saying the part we were in is closed and blocked off. This obviously wasn't true... More

Took family today and wandered around looking for apples until we came upon someone in a truck who told us this area was closed and we should have followed the power lines and taken the tractor ride to the area that is open. There was no one nor any signs around to tell us an area was closed (because of... More

I'm just reviewing the orchard. I haven't gone to the winery. Originally being from NYC I didn't realize just how many orchards there are up here in Orange County. This is a nice orchard but touristy. Everything is pricey. It's not worth it. There are many other orchards around. Check them out.

Years ago, each September my friends and I would pack up a lunch and make the drive up to Sugar Loaf, NY. With little or no traffic we could get there in about an hour and a half. On the weekends there are crowds, but there is music and the smell of apple cider donuts cooking wafting through the air.... More
