I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area or who hasn't visited the brewery. The brewery tour is a great way to learn about not only the history, but the beer many of us drink on a daily basis. For $5 you can go on the tour and taste 2 beers for free in the tasting room.... Very informative and interesting. Friendly tour and a must do for anyone who enjoys their brew. Those that don't drink can have root beer. Varick St. businesses have come a long way in reviving Utica. Would definitely return. Great shopping as well.

If you only do one thing in Utica, do this tour! The brewery was originally established in 1888, and is the only one to survive prohibition in this area. The building they are in now is very unique and is decorated in an old Victorian style. It is very cool! The tour is only $5, and you get two beers... More

This was a good tour although ive been to others where i didnt have to pay and recieved drinks afterwards. For a brewery i think the prices should be lower seeing that the items are made at that location which would improve sales afterward. I can go to a discount store and get the same beer for less. Our tour... More

I arrived shortly after they opened and walked around the gift shop a bit. It seemed like they only offered tours in the afternoon, so I strolled around a bit and gave myself a bit of a self tour. They have an impressive building, would be great for hosting parties. Gift shop is fun, with lots to offer and mix... More

We stopped in to cool off one afternoon. As you enter you go into a little store that has anything and everything related to beer and the brewery. It was fun to look while waiting for our tour to begin. Once our tour began it was an immediate step back in time which was fun. They had a couple of... More

FX Matt Brewing offers a very solid brewery tour. Although Matt is known primarily as the brewer of Saranac they've been producing Utica Club since the end of prohibition. They also do quite a bit of contract brewing for Brooklyn Brewery, Flying Bison, and a few others. The tour itself starts in an ornate old building dating back to the... More

Great small family brewery tour. Been going here with my family for 35 years. Great tour, great story and great beer and gift shop at the end. Great way to spend a few hours.

My family & I have visited Matt Brewery at least once/year for past 5 yrs. My most recent visit was marked by a tour guide who knew less than those of the past. The history of the West End - FX Matt - Saranac Brewery is pretty interesting and the artifacts, furnishings, facilities and beer are top notch. My tip... More

As there is very little at all to do in Utica we went for this tour and we're pleased to have done so. Our guide was friendly and informative and the tour takes in plenty of interesting locations without the British nanny state health and safety idiots spoiling it all. The tour ends with a beer tasting where you get... More
