My family & I have visited Matt Brewery at least once/year for past 5 yrs. My most recent visit was marked by a tour guide who knew less than those of the past. The history of the West End - FX Matt - Saranac Brewery is pretty interesting and the artifacts, furnishings, facilities and beer are top notch. My tip... More

As there is very little at all to do in Utica we went for this tour and we're pleased to have done so. Our guide was friendly and informative and the tour takes in plenty of interesting locations without the British nanny state health and safety idiots spoiling it all. The tour ends with a beer tasting where you get... More

Note: The other reviews of Matt/Saranac .. it's all the same place. We enjoyed our tour of the brewery and the tastings in the upstair bar area. It's a great deal for $5. I enjoyed the history of the brewery way more than the how to make beer part. The how to make beer part you can see anywhere. I... More

Great tour of the brewery offered, providing you with details about all the ingredients & every step of the brewing process. Young guides make it fun. The tour ends with free beers and root beers at the 1890s tavern. Make it a must when you visit Utica. It's free and family fun.

I haven't been to the brewery in over 20 years. Last time I went, I couldn't even drink beer. But, I still had fun memories of the place. So, my wife and I decided to visit and do the tour (she had never been). It was much as I remembered, but I was now able to try some good beers... More

For $5.00 usd, this is a greeeaatttt thing to do. Kids, too. The tour guide Vanessa was superb. She was honest about not knowing all the answers. The tour takes about 45 mins and you receive 2 drink tickets. Either beer or pop. There are multiple beers on tap and several flavours of pop including their famous Root Beer. The... More

This tour was very interesting, history of the building, brewery, explanation of how beer is made and two pints of beer or soda at the end. Totally worth it and have been told each tour you learn a little something different.

I have not been on this tour for over 30 years. However, I was thrilled! The tour itself was about 45 minutes and our guide Cullen Was outstanding! It was so nostalgic for me. The difference this time was that I could actually drink the beer instead of root beer lol. $5 gets you a tour ticket and two large... More

Stopped for a tour of the brewery. We decided not to take the tour, 45 minutes, and a lot of walking and stairs. Elderly aunt with us and she could not do all the walking, so we decided to sample in the tasting room. Two tickets for two samples are $5. I was hoping to sample a many different beers,... More

A great tour to do in Utica. You can learn a lot about the brewing process, and the beer is quite good here as well. Worth stopping!
