This was my second brewery experience. For now, there is no tasting fee which is a definite plus (I believe this is changing in May). But, that also might explain why the place was so crowded. It almost seemed like a place locals come to hang out at almost like a bar. The beers here were pretty good, my husband... More

Very good beer and the samples are all completely free. On the Saturday afternoon when we dropped in, it was busy so it does get a little cramped and there are no seats. But . . . did you hear what I said at first? Great beer for free! Even buying a small growler with beer at the end and... More

We stopped in Syracuse on the way to somewhere else and planned our brewery stops. Got to Middle Ages around 6 intentionally for the tour only to learn that there were no tours on Saturdays. PLEASE PUT THIS ON YOUR WEBSITE. As we came in, a gentleman approached us and asked if we like Jerky, and then told us he... More

Come as you are and enjoy a really relaxed experience featuring excellent ales offered by an operation that knows how good it is-- no rush, no hype. As noted by others it can be busy on the weekends and late afternoons, but even at its most hectic, folks will usually give you access to the counter for refills. Ales for... More

I have been to Middle Ages several times. Nothing pretensious here. Small bar for about 8-10 people. Generous tastings and pleasant staff. Caught a tour the last time. Lots of good info there.

Very impressed by the generous portions at no cost. Things of note: there's a cat wandering around (including on the bar counter... yeah...); its very cut and dry (no 'storytelling' element to the tasting, at least on the day I visited); you can't sample a fair number of the beers they have for sale, and there are a few that... Excellent beer. Friendly staff. Samples are great. Only regret is you can't grab a pint after! My only suggestion is to go when it's isn't super crowded- I think it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

Middle Ages is one of my favorite beers and a must go on my trips to SU. Place smells just like a brewery should smell, good assortment of beers on tap for tasting, a friendly and knowledgeable staff. My opinion is the Wailing Wench is their signature beer, especially if you like a beer that bites you back a bit.... More

If you are a beer tasting fan like myself, then you must try this place out. Don't come here if you are looking for food, however. It's a basement-style bar setting, with no place to even sit down. You enter the building, turn left, walk downstairs to the bottom floor, and voila! A bar! That's it, however haha. The staff... More

As a former resident of Syracuse, Middle Ages is one of the places I miss the most. The staff are always friendly and personable as well as the crowd. They let you try 7 different beers they have on tap all of which are very good. You cant beat their price for a fresh poured growler and they have beers... More
