High Rock is part of the Greenbelt which will always remain wild. There are many trails through the park and they are well marked so its impossible to get lost if you stay on the trails. The park is wooded and if you didn't know you were on Staten Island you would think you were upstate somewhere. I have seen... More

Great trails for hikers--beginners or more advanced. Part of the Appalachian trail. Peaceful and serene.

I love coming here for a nice walk with friends or to bring my dog. The place is huge and very easy to get lost in which I have many times. The scenery and birds are spectacular. The ponds are beautiful and every time I come I always find a new place amongst high rock. Theres so much to see... More

Hard to believe you are still in nyc when you pick a trail and go. Any season any time of year is a good time to enjoy the greenbelt. Deer a plenty, red tail hawks. What will you discover.

Love to hike in the peace and quiet, you forget that you are in New York City! It's the only place on Staten Island you won't hear traffic or expressway sounds!

Follow trails in the Greenbelt and enjoy the beauty and serenity of nature. You need a car to get there, but parking is limited.

Located in the Hills of Staten Island, this is a wonderful park to hike. Many trails to explore all Staten Island has to offer. Off the beaten path but worth the trip

Within five minutes you feel like you are in the mountains in upstate New York. Beautiful, clean, quiet and the trails are well marked before dusk. Of course you are not allowed to unleash your dog in NYC but I always do when I don't hear anyone (she is a great dog) and nothing like seeing her run free. One... More

I came here with my nine and eleven year old daughters. We all enjoyed following the trails (they're color designated with spray paint or small signs on the trees as you walk). I wanted to make it to Moses' Mountain but didn't want to go too far with the kids.

I went to summer camp in High Rock Park for years when I was younger. I had so much fun exploring the forest, doing activities, and there were cabins and buildings to keep us occupied. My favorite part as a child was the birch trees that we would pick and chew on the branches. Just like root beer! Now older,... More
