Polar Express Experience Great for the Family

We've taken this experience ride twice at the Catskill Mountain Railroad with kids between the ages of 3 and 7. It's very low key compared to other railroad stations. (We've... read more

We (myself, my husband and our twin 4 year old sons) decided to try this Polar Express ride since we did the one in Saratoga last year (2014). This review highlights some of the comparisons. We did a 6pm train ride on a Saturday. 1. When you arrive at the Kingston station, there are 2 entrances onto the train, which... More

Went for the fall & Foliage train ride with our 3.5 Yo Son. The train ride is really nice, they play songs, the ride is not very short as its often the case but not too long either. The best part of the ride was when Snoopy showed up with Chocolates which my Son enjoyed a lot. The only reason... More

My 6 year old and I had a great time on the Polar Express! The singing, story and cookies & hot coco were great. Santa was the real deal! He took time to visit each child and talk to them and take pictures. Can't wait to go back! My only complaint was that they were behind schedule. We were a... More

We've taken this experience ride twice at the Catskill Mountain Railroad with kids between the ages of 3 and 7. It's very low key compared to other railroad stations. (We've been to a few as our youngest is a train fanatic.) This was a welcome reprieve as the trips we took were around bedtimes of the youngest in order to... More

We had an outstanding ride on the Catskill Mountain Railroad Polar Express! The elves and chefs (teens) were amazing and kept all of us entertained (my grandson is 3, his parents and two grandmas!) Great hot chocolate and cookies. The chefs on our car kept us entertained with dancing in the isles and singing until we got to the North... More

The scenery was gorgeous. Although this area is known for bald eagles and black bear, we did not see either. It was a beautiful afternoon. The train ride is only 5 miles due to hurricane damage that they have not been able to recover from. You do stop at the museum which is has a lot of historical information. I... More

The Catskill Mountain Railroad is a part of American History. The ride from Kingston although short gives you the feeling of what it was like to ride the Ulster & Delaware rail. It’s too bad the Ulster County Executive and City of Kingston Won't allow the Railroad to expand further so more tourists can enjoy a rail ride to the... More

It's a nice experience and the scenery is pretty too. But nothing like steam train rides in the UK. Bit pricey too.

My review is similar to the other bad reviews of this terrible attraction. We left the Mt Tremper station on the train and went roughly 2 miles, stopped, reversed direction past the station for another 2 or 3 miles and reversed back again. The stop at the souvenir shop/museum at the reverse point of the second leg is, thankfully, pretty... More

We had to wait almost an hour to get a seat for the Fall Foliage Train. The train starts from Mt. Tremper, takes you to Phoenicia then returns to Mt. Tremper and takes you in the other direction and back. Between these rides, they pick up passengers at Mt. Tremper. Do check the timings on their website and reach early.... More
