Just dropped in for a quick visit after checking out. Ended up staying until forced to leave. Such a beautiful place. Leave enough time to see and enjoy the entire experience.

Spacious grounds, open lawns, well groomed gardens, classic elements of design. Check out the sundial and the large trellis'd walkway, then meander into the wooded section with its small ponds and rock formations. There's a stately mansion high on the hill that can be admired from afar only. Nice place to visit at no cost to guests and it's easy... More

Very nicely laid out and the home was a bit like Downton Abby. It truly must have been special back in the day but the gardens were lovely.

After reading the book The Lady of Yaddo about Katrina Trask, I was looking forward to seeing this historic site. The gardens were not in bloom when I went in July, although the garden design and landscaping was pretty and the historical write-up is interesting. The biggest disappointment is that you cannot tour the house, nor even get close to... More

As an area native, it was not until a few years back that I discovered Yaddo Gardens. A serene place where you can clear your mind and take in the colors of the beautiful flowers. To me it has a Roman Garden feel, something evokes a Maxwell Parrish ambiance. The garden is a place to bring your camera, it is... More

The entire place looks like an English Garden -- immaculately laid out with fountains, terraces, marble statues and a fish-pond. The Huge Gothic Mansion, the dark shady woods at the back and the pergola and trellises in the front, all contributed to give it an aura of romance, tranquility and serenity. The large fountain at the entrance is lovely and... More

I went because of the reviews, and it was a really fun trip. We went in the middle of July, so we missed the bloom which was a bit of a let down. They also seemed to be doing a lot of maintenance on the grounds, but overall it was still fun. The best part, on the way out, we... More

This is a beautiful garden - mostly roses - but tucked into the back of the grounds is what they call a rock garden. It is populated with many wildflowers and ferns set in a wood that provides shade and sun for the many understory plants that prefer milder light. We visited in early June, when most of the roses... I've lived in the area 35+ years and want to come each summer, but never found the time to visit the gardens before. It's gorgeous! Beautiful area to walk around - with the statues and scenery, it's like taking a step back in time. It's also the sort of place meditators go in their minds' eyes. VERY peaceful, very historic...
