Make sure when you are in Lake Placid to come over to Saranac Lake. There are wonderful galleries, a couple nice stores, including the Community Store and Donnelly's Ice Cream (be prepared for a line no matter what time of day during the peak season) Also plan on the winter to see the Ice Palace and the Winter Carnival. Every... More

Saranac Lake so often takes a back seat to neighbor Lake Placid but it has an interesting selection of restaurants and artistic events. Their Winter Carnival is lots of fun as well as some of their other music and art events which take place year-round. Their farmer's markets in the summer take place by Lake Flower and feature some interesting... More

The entire area is so so beautiful. The reflections on the water is a sight to see. As you drive along you can't believe your eyes. All the lakes around here are spectacular.

I've been visiting the area since attending Eagle Island Camp on Upper Saranac Lake many many years ago. Little has changed since then. How many places can claim that? I spent a week with friends in July 2015 (and in several other years). With a little luck, I'll return during summer 2016 with grandchildren in tow. Kayaking, sailing and canoeing... More

My husband and I traveled to Saranac Lake for a short visit and to see the fall foliage. It was absolutely amazing. We stayed at the Adirondack motel(a jewel in its own right) on Lake Flower. There are a number of restaurants, deli's some within walking distance of the motel or a short ride from it. Saranac Lake is a... More

Saranac Lake offers a quieter and more rural experience than that of Lake Placid. This is a place for hiking, fishing, etc. Not so much for tourist shopping. Enjoy the peace and quiet.

A beautiful community with Lake Flower at its center. It is not nearly as commercial or tourist-y as Lake Placid. Very down-to-earth, homey feel where you are welcomed by all. Good bars and restaurants, easy to walk around and a lovely view of the lake and mountains. Historic for the pioneering work that went on here in the fight against... More

Great lake for fishing, boating and water sports. Excellent to see the fall foliage around the lake. Water is warm in the summer, cools down fast by early October.

Saranac lake is a great place to camp or rent a house on. Clean water and not that busy. The town can be fun but also is changing as more and more industry leaves the area. It is slowly becoming more of a seasonal town. Some great art and lakeside (Lake Flower) parks to sit by if you want to... More

This is a beautiful little town in the central Adirondack region of New York State. We visited it on at tour of that area and stopped in the lakeside park for our picnic lunch. As you would expect there are loads of activities on the lake but it is just a beautiful spot to sit and pass the time as... More
