There is so much more than just the town of Saranac Lake to see. You should stay for a few days at least. Canoe or kayak around. Rent a cabin on any of the various lakes that are all connected. Watch the wild life. And most important: DON'T CHECK YOUR EMAIL!

There is a new attraction that goes between Saranac Lake and Lake Clear NY. It is best described as a rail bike. You ride the rails between the 2 towns. Great fun and good exercise. Take about 1-2 hours. Beautiful scenery along the rail tracks. www.railexplorer.net

My family and I enjoy Saranac Lake for many reasons. For both the young and old there is always some place to visit in our around town locally for a day ..or tripping into Placid/tupper etc. ... for just a few hours. Enjoying it with either youngsters, or now as a couple with grown children we can always find something... More

Saranac Lake, NY is so little known compared to Lake Placid. It's only about 10 miles away. Make the trip there to see the Adirondack beauty of the lake and the quaint town. Be sure to stop at the Mountain Mist for an ice cream!

While driving out to the ice rink in Saranac, we passed this huge ice sculpture. The kids wanted us stop to take photos, but we were running late to the rink. It was made from blocks of ice. Unfortunately, it was being taken apart when we passed by on our way home so missed the photo op. Next time, we... More

I was in Saranac Lake in upstate New York just this Saturday 27th 2014. I saw that a antique place was open called Cassidy's Antique's ( was told after the owner's name is Linda Cassidy). I wheeled in with my vehicle and noticed the owner was outside talking with someone. As I got out of the vehicle and proceeded to... More

Saranac Lake is a beautiful town with a marvelous lake, shopping area, and sumptuous restaurants. I love its proximity to Lake Placid and the ice castle that is built there every winter.
