If you are an urban explorer, you must walk around and see High Falls. There is free parking in areas within walking distance, and free paths to explore. There is a number of old buildings in the gorge that are very interesting to photograph.

A really lovely spot. Best view is from the bridge. There is a visitor centre, but it was closed in the evening when we went there.

The Genesee Falls and Gorge really are right in the middle of downtown Rochester. Parking is available in a garage about 2 blocks away and about a block from the High Falls Visitors Center. The garage has an elevator. The best view of the falls and the gorge is from the bridge that crosses from the High Falls Historic area... More

Spectacular falls in downtown Rochester. Go in the day time (I don't think they light it up at night as much as they used to) and hope the there's been some rain in the preceding days as that will add to the spectacle). Irrespective, you won't regret the visit.

$2 for parking and we were able to get plenty of enjoyment from just walking around and taking in the view. Hopefully one day the area will recover.

I love post industrial sites mixed in urban environmetns. Here there is also the beautiful natural falls scene. The thing that I like mosts that it is real. Not too touristic, not a lot of people, you don't have to fight to enjoy the view. Very nice...

Seems to be promoted as the jewel in Rochester's crown. Frankly is it boring and no scenic at all. It might have historic significance but ..... yawn

Been coming to Rochester for many years but never took the time to explore the downtown. A recent article in the Toronto Star mentioned the High Falls. So after a visit to the Rochester Market (great), we tried our GPS but for some unknown reason it failed to locate it, then we just followed the Genesee River in the downtown... More

The view from the pedestrian bridge overlooking High Falls in downtown Rochester, NY is nothing less than spectacular. In addition to the 80 foot High Falls that spills out of downtown Rochester, there is the great view of the city skyline, and directly below, both the rapidly flowing Genesee River and an interesting isolated island. You may feel like a... More

Part of the walkway over the river is plowed so you can walk across and get great views and pictures of the falls even in winter. The Genesee Brewery is a great place to stop for a tour, tasting, shopping, exhibits, and lunch or dinner.
