Seems to be promoted as the jewel in Rochester's crown. Frankly is it boring and no scenic at all. It might have historic significance but ..... yawn

Been coming to Rochester for many years but never took the time to explore the downtown. A recent article in the Toronto Star mentioned the High Falls. So after a visit to the Rochester Market (great), we tried our GPS but for some unknown reason it failed to locate it, then we just followed the Genesee River in the downtown... More

The view from the pedestrian bridge overlooking High Falls in downtown Rochester, NY is nothing less than spectacular. In addition to the 80 foot High Falls that spills out of downtown Rochester, there is the great view of the city skyline, and directly below, both the rapidly flowing Genesee River and an interesting isolated island. You may feel like a... More

Part of the walkway over the river is plowed so you can walk across and get great views and pictures of the falls even in winter. The Genesee Brewery is a great place to stop for a tour, tasting, shopping, exhibits, and lunch or dinner.

It is amazing how you can find a beautiful waterfall in the middle of Rochester NY. Went to the visitor's center. Met by a very friendly knowledgeable young man who was very eager to answer our every question. When in Rochester this is a can't miss. Agree the surrounding area could use some sprucing up - garbage picked up, weeds... More

With some real city leadership, Rochester's High Falls could be a natural downtown attraction, and Mecca for new real estate investment. For ideas, look, for example, at what Greenville SC has done its downtown and river falls. Potential for a pedestrian catwalk over the falls, continuous walkways, colored lights at night, and clean up of the Genesee River, etc.

This area of Rochester is definitely worth a visit- with a walking tour and a wonderful bridge over the river. The history about the mills that were powered by Brown's Race is fascinating and there are historical markers around to give you an idea of what happened where. A giant waterwheel has been uncovered so you can get a sense... More

It was near dusk when we got there and museum was closed. No problem. Walk-way is easily accessible and takes you right out in front of the falls. Very picturesque, well worth seeing. Not Niagara, but way cool. 5 deer were grazing below the bridge along with three wild turkeys. We might have eaten at one of the two restaurants... More

We parked on the street near the bridge (1 hour parking) and walked out to see the waterfall. It's a nice view: the bridge is pretty high up, and the waterfall is pretty impressive. But the surroundings are a bit dilapidated, and could be spruced up a bit. Some walkways, a few small restaurants, tourist shops, maybe some greenery... would... More

I agree with "jeshhh" on his title for the area. The Genesee brewery is right off the foot/cycling bridge. Needs and infusion of cash and some caring caretakers. This area is mildly difficult to get to if you aren't familiar with this part of Rochester. I would recommend the stop especially if you are going to the art museum and... More
