Powerful Falls, great view from the Pedestrian Bridge

The Falls really roars when the river is flowing heavy. Unfortunately the museum nearby is closed and restaurants are gone. But if you are in the area it is well worth a visit.

The pedestrian walkway was nice with benches for viewing. The falls area was more a history of power generation than nature park so that was disappointing. But still, WOW. In the middle of the business district. What a surprise to be driving over them and look down.

We walked over the pedestrian bridge to get to the brew house and enjoyed to view of the falls. It's nice because they have benches you can sit and enjoy the scenery. You can also go to the brew house and enjoy the falls and a meal from the side balcony deck.

The best view is from the bridge. Beautiful even in winter, when the falls become partially frozen. I always take friends and visitors to see the falls when they come to Rochester. There's a brewery across the bridge on one side, and a nice restaurant on the other. Make it a nice afternoon out!

It is rare to find falls in any inner city, one other such case we are aware of is at Sioux Falls, ND. Unfortunately unable to get close to the falls except from a distance.

It was very unexpected to see falls basically in center of the city. We thought map was pointing to the wrong place but it was not. The only downside - it's impossible to get close to the falls.

This is a waterfall I like to visit whenever I am in Downtown Rochester. Today was very cold and damp so we didn't spend too much time outside looking at it. We walked across the Pont de Rennes and had lunch at the Genesee Brew House where we could view the falls in comfort while we dined. Make sure you... More

Beautiful falls, 96 ft high, on the Genessee River, was where settlers got energy to run their early mills, factories, etc. See it from a beautiful foot bridge-- great views! Worth the short trip!

If you are an urban explorer, you must walk around and see High Falls. There is free parking in areas within walking distance, and free paths to explore. There is a number of old buildings in the gorge that are very interesting to photograph.
