The Strasenburgh Planetarium presents an amazing show of stars as they evolve over the course of day and night over a backdrop of the Rochester city skyline. The narrative accompanying the show is engaging and informative. The seats are comfortable and the views are excellent from all vantage points. Ample free parking is nearby and the building is accessible. I... More

It's mainly a building to house the Zeiss star projector with a few hands-on exhibits to get kids hooked on astronomy but, for a town of this size, it's existence at all is a marvel. And, it's well done, well organized, well kept and clean. They do seem to have varying used for the planetarium stage itself beside star shows.... More

I don't know much about stars but I enjoyed the star show at Strasenburgh. It was mesmerizing to think about the vastness of our universe.

We live in Syracuse and took a day trip with our grandchildren aged 9 and 6 to the planetarium. The Strasenburgh website lists the suggested ages for their various shows and we selected " A Trip To Mars And Saturn ". Our grandchildren enjoyed the exhibits outside the theater until showtime and we took our seats. The narrator for the... More

Last weekend, we attended a wedding at the Planetarium. Before it started, they projected pictures of the bride and groom and their families at various ages on the ceiling. Then, after the procession, they gave a brief little Planetarium show. They didn't really connect it to love or weddings though, which they probably could have. I mean, you know, stars,... More

Great place to bring the kids and see a movie. You have to be careful where you sit because it can be a little awkward of an angle trying to watch depending on where you are. It can also be loud, so some kids might not like that. Free with your RMSC membership, so we have gone a lot.

The shows are mainly aimed at the younger audience but still fun & informative for adults too. There are a few hands on activities to 'play' with whilst you wait for your chosen show & there's information boards dotted about - there's more 'science' in the adjacent museum if you want it. Not all the shows are about space &... More

Took the kids to see the grand canyon movie at the planetarium. They loved it. Great site above you and the sound is great. Staff was awesome. We were running a lil behind but they had them wait for us to get in and seated before they started it. Definitely going again soon for another show.
