Small but charming

Beautiful objects but the galleries mission is unclear. Nice extended text on the second floor but the first floor was a bit confusing. Nice gift shop.

We have been enjoying Rochester for a few days and decided to visit the Memorial Art Gallery on our last day. We arrived just before the Gallery opened and happily strolled through the sculpture garden. But when we reached the desk to pay our admission things turned sour. I had noticed that our "home" art museum was on the list... More

We attended a wedding reception here. For an hour prior to the reception, guests could go through the gallery. I lived in Rochester for several years and had never visited the gallery except for events. It was lovely. A variety of exhibits was highlighted by an organist playing an Italian Renaissance organ upstairs. The galleries were spacious and well lit.... More

We brought the family to visit the Art Gallery and we were amazed how beautiful it was on the inside. The kids enjoyed the sculpture park and the indoor exhibits. I was happy to see the kids reading the cards next to the art and talking about it. We enjoyed our day

Beautiful gallery with a variety of impressive exhibits. The cathedral area is magical! Rembrandt, Cezanne, Van Gogh...need I say more?

I can't say enough about this art "gallery" which is as large as a museum. With a variety of exhibits from egyptian mummies to lesser known (but wonderful) artists to famous works of art ... the 3 of us spent hours here, happily. It's so surprising in its scope and collections. So well presented. So well lit!! Really, you don't... More

Very nice gallery with a changing exhibit on the first floor. Be sure to check out the second floor with it's sarcophagus and the organ that has Eastman school of museum play free 5 minute concerts at. Admission is cheap $8, and if you are a student of University of Rochester you get in for free.

We recently went to the Art Gallery for a wedding reception. The art was wonderful and easy to get through in a timely manner. The reception hall is perfect size for small - medium guest list. Food is tasty, but very small portions and not much variety. The grounds are absolutely beautiful.

On and off over the years we have been members of the MAG so we usually go to their opening party for new exhibits. They do a good job of bringing in a wide range of exhibits and thus there should be a show that strikes a chord with you. Since we tend to just go to see the new... More
