Get to the market early, walk the aisles of vendors to comparison shop, then do your buying. Prices vary within 100 feet. It gets crowded and the prices are great. Sometimes one can come across junk, but that's part of the fun exploration!

The Public Market in Rochester, New York has evolved over the years into a fun place to visit. There are always many vendors offering their wares lining the pavilions at the market to say nothing of the shops, small restaurants, etc. that surround this area. Sundays in the summer find various vendors offering garage sale like things up and down... More

We enjoy spending the morning at the market whenever we go. We went on a Thursday and also have been on Saturday. Thursday is a much quieter day however with less vendors. Saturdays at the market are busier and are usually crowded however the crowd adds to the excitement. This is the best place for fresh vegetables and best prices.... More

Winter, spring, summer and fall we go to the Rochester Public Market every Saturday possible to do our weekly shopping. From veggies, fruit, meat, cheese, honey, spices and many other things, you can get more than your basics at the market. Summertime is busy and folks who really want to shop arrive early! The "tourists" (not regulars at the market)... More

It took moving away from Rochester to understand what a joy it is. Markets in other towns and cities I've been to are very touristy, or only appeal to foodies with a high enough paycheck to warrant the very finest and fanciest. While you can find organic and exotic fare here, what you will mostly find is fantastic produce, phenomenal... More

When the weather is nice, the Public Market is a must-go! This is where I do my fruit and veggie shopping, as it is cheaper than the grocery store. There any multiple local coffee shops as well as an array of breakfast/food options. This place has pretty much everything. They have spices, cheeses, live chickens, fish, meat, baked goods as... There are about hundred stores in the market - some are selling different types of food, such as: fruits, veggies, seafood and meat while other stores are selling everyday household items. The price is not especially cheap, but with the vast number of stores, it is a good place to spend 1 hour or 2!

Great farmer's market with a good variety of veggies, fruit, poinsettias, wreaths, and seasonal gifts. Throw in some artist galleries, bakeries, and a coffee house or two and you have the makings of a fun morning or afternoon!

It was chilly, windy and it rainy on and off so I guess it was not the best day to visit this market but it was the only chance we were going to have. It was a Thursday and several people (mostly vendors) said that Saturday was by far the best day to come. Saturdays there are a lot of... More

This is the perfect place to go to to find the best prices on produce around. I have yet to find a place better other than picking your own. The majority of the best food is seasonal so you might not find everything all year long like you would at overpriced Wegmans so knowing what is in season will get... More
