We brought my wife here for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The crew were fantastic and seemed to enjoy interacting with the passengers. My 2 smaller children were allowed to steer the boat (with captains help of course) and that made their experience memorable. Boat was full, but you could stand outside at either end of the... More

We took this tour because we thought it would be fun to hark back to yesteryear and hear about the history of the Erie Canal. We heard some canned history for about 15 minutes. The boat was packed an unairconditioned and stocked with kitchen tables around each of which 4 seats are placed. Seating VERY uncomfortable for even the smallest... More

The only bad thing that I can say about the tour is that it wasn't long enough. We didn't go far enough. The boat captain was lively and very informative, but he was outdone by the guide. The ride was entertaining as well as interesting. The guide gave us a great deal of history of the Erie Canal and Sam... More

The captain and crew were outstanding, very knowledgable, and shared valuable information regarding the canal, community, and the historical boat. The crew actually had formal backgrounds in history and professional presented programs identifying unique aspects of the community and canal. The captain invited us into the pilot house and shared many interesting facts and stories of the Erie Canal. We... More

our friends from the Rochester, NY recommended that we go on an Erie canal cruise. This was the highlight of our vacation. If you have a chance to go there - don't miss it.

we tried to book this ride but online it looked like it wasn't running so gave up. We went to a wine tasting instead then decided to park up and walk along the canal. As we noticed the booth was open we stopped by and found that not only was the boat doing a trip in ten minutes but there... More

The Sam Patch actually sails out of the Pittsford, NY port on the Erie Canal and it's sister ship the Mary Jemison sails out of downtown Rochester on the Genessee River. I have done both and both are delightfull trips of 1 1/2 hr. Not only are the boats true canal boats but they have great narrators to give you... More

We especially enjoyed the very interesting and informative talk given on the return portion of our trip. This was our first visit to Rochester so it's long history as a centre of commerce and culture in the American northeast, along with the history of the Erie Canal, held our rapt attention. The captain and crew were competent, friendly and helpful.... More

Take a leisurely tour of this historic American treasure. Beginning in downtown Rochester, you pass by historic and new buildings. The views are spectacular! Growing up I learned about the US from reading. My favorite was Junior Scholastic Magazine. Taking the Erie Canal boat tour brought those memories to life. The boat is very well maintained. The staff is courteous... More

We took the 1 hour tour, enjoyed the history of the canal, and going into the lock. It would be a good tour for all ages.
