My husband and I recently visited the Loeb on a trip to the Poughkeepsie area, and were pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Vassar College alum are encouraged to donate works to the museum, and many of them very generously donate works by very famous artists.

The permanent collection at the Frances Lehman Loeb is a great one. On display today were some Georgia O'Keefe's, a Miro, a couple dozen Hudson River School pieces, a couple Picasso's and an exhibit by a Vassar graduate Nancy Graves.
The gallery itself is pretty small and can be viewed in an hour or 90min. The helpful security and gallery...
