A lovely, small museum. Easy to get around and see their exhibits. Vassar is a great setting for such a pleasant museum. The museum is very modern, set in the center of beautiful classic, old Vasser buildings.

Beautiful space with an interesting collection. Never saw the O'Keefe "Spring" painting before so that was a real treat. Great to see some Hudson River Valley paintings. Security staff was very helpful and informative. Give shop attendant was not helpful at all and remained on cell phone :( Parking can be a little tough on campus.

A remarkable collection of art in a beautifully designed museum. Up there with the best in the USA. Easy to find and park nearby. If you love trees the front campus is as rewarding as the gallery.

What looks like a fairly small gallery from the outside is extensive, and the collection includes lots of very famous artists. It was a huge (and very welcome) surprise! Definitely worth a visit. The visiting collection of daguerrotypes was also fascinating.

This art museum is a must-see and is truly a hidden gem here in the mid-Hudson area. It is small in comparison to NYC art museums but it has several great works of art by the Masters and a lovely collection of Hudson River school. And it is free! The Vassar campus is a bonus for those able to stroll... More

Thanks Tripadvisor for listing this fabulous Museum, I have lived in the area all my life and did not know this treasure was so close. We made a field trip out of the Museum with children from K- 12 and were delighted with the whole experience. We will definitely return in the spring to see the outdoor sculpture and make... More

Vassar's art center will be a find for many art-lovers: an excellent, small, free museum of surprising breadth and quality. Some of the top names of the 20th century are here (Picasso, de Kooning, Calder, Bacon, O'Keeffe, Matisse, Chagall), but so are asian antiquities, early photography, and a whole section devoted to the Hudson River school. Give yourself extra time... More
