This is a must do! Its that simple you have to go for the view. Went for walk after dinner and it made for a great end of day excursion. The parking is the only thing that could be better. Lot is not paved and very rough.

This was a lot of fun. I've visited this town a few times in the past but didn't get an opportunity to walk across this converted train bridge. If you are scared of heights this should be ok as the bridge is very wide and modern looking. Awesome views and very long to walk. It closes about dusk. Great for... More

We rode our bikes across this repurposed 19th Century railroad bridge. At 212 feet above the Hudson River the views are spectacular. We started on the Poughkeepsie side and rode the 1 1/4 mile across plus another mile+ on a trail into Highland, NY. The Walkway is a NY State Park. Rest rooms, benches and picnic tables are available. This... More

There's nothing special about this bridge. The views are far reaching but not particularly attractive. Sure it's got some history, but not particularly significant. Sure it's long, so if you follow the typical US obsession with doing the something-est, I suppose you ought to visit. There are much better views and more interesting things to do in this area (head... More

It truly is just a walk over the Hudson river. Depending on the weather and time of year the view is beautiful. Easy walk. Wheel chair friendly. 1.4 miles. Skip Poughkeepsie and keep going to hyde park.

This is an amazing 1.3 miles across the Hudson. The views are just breathtaking. Safe, clean. Food and restrooms are at either end of the bridge. There is a further loop of 4.7 miles that can be taken walking or cycling around the mid-Hudson bridge.

Walking over the Hudson is a lovely experience. On the day we crossed the weather was very hot but we did it. Not too crowded and parking was available. I would like to take a bike but did not know where bikes were available. Views are fabulous and the signs posted on the walkway outline the history of the area.... More

This is a fun activity for all ages. It's an easy walk and easily accessible - at least from the Poughkeepsie side. The parking lot on the Poughkeepsie side is dirt and gravel and uneven, but if you can get to the walkway through that it's easy going. It was very windy crossing the bridge. I don't know if that's... More

Families, couples, bikers, hikers, townspeople--all we out strolling together on this most pleasant walkway developed from an old railway bridge. The views up and down the Hudson were spectacular and the sunset was fabulous All in my price-range--FREE!

This is a beautiful walk! The views from every angle are amazing and great opportunity to people watch. Dogs and bikes and scooters Are okay-- but the walk is concrete so not a great thing to regularly RUN if you have knee issues. Go early in the morning or at the cooler part of the afternoon in the summer- awesome... More
