We walked the Bridge as part of the Volkssporters walk from Highland, over the bridge, & the City of Poughkeepsie. Great experience.

This is one of those great projects that sounds a little odd but came together beautifully. The bridge has such a great view its hard to keep walking. The also connects some 20 miles of trails from both sides of the river. Can get a little windy and cold but on a sunny day there is no place better to... More

Great for exercise, scenic views, photography. City of Poughkeepsie and NY state should be proud of this impressive addition to recreational sites in our area.

My husband and I walked over the Mid-Hudson Bridge, and then followed the signs to the Walkway. It was fun walking through the streets of Poughkeepsie. There is an elevator to the bridge, but we took stairs and walked across it. The Walkway originally held trains and was made of concrete. It is fairly wide, affording good vistas of the... More

If you like walking and feel like walking in a different environment then the "Walkway Over The Hudson" in Poughkeepsie is for you. It's a little more than a mile long one way and quite scenic. There are refreshments available and rest facilities. There are numerous restaurants available if you wish to walk into Poughkeepsie or Highland. It's worth the... More

This place is beautiful, despite the motorcyclists, that sometimes speeds on there. The height might be startling to some people, but the attractions, and the environment on a hold will keep you going back.

Check the maps on site for a walking loop across the bridge and through town for a nice leisurely walk. Plenty of lunch stops along the way...Lola's is a great choice.

The walkway is one of the largest walk bridges in the world apparently. We love the scenery and the exercise so do get them both in one is great!

We live here and go to the Walkway about once a month. Many people go daily. Great exercise, incredible views. Unique perspective that you would normally not get. Flat, easy to walk. Dog friendly, bikes use it too. We attend sunrise service for Easter at the middle of the Walkway. An elevator is new. Probably the best new thing to... More
