The only drawback to this ferry is that if you are going to Boston, you have to drive aan extra seventy miles on I-95 vs the Orient Point ferry. They sail in almost any weather, which is another bonus over the OP ferry. The food and beverage selections are OK and are a little expensive, but the service is very... More

While awaiting for the ferry across to Port Jefferson we had good hot coffee (fresh) and donuts also fresh. What more to want on a cold blustery day on the water.

The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company plies Long Island Sound between the two communities, one being on the South shore of Connecticut and the other being on the North shore of Long Island. The trip from loading to disembarkation is an hour and one-quarter. If one were to travel via land "around the horn" via the Long Island Expressway,... More

We have taken this ferry several times. It is much more relaxing than driving, for sure! But it is expensive, so we limit the number of times we use it.

It costs $56 per car and driver plus additional costs per extra passengers which is more than what it costs to drive around but much less stress! If your budget can handle the extra then it's definitely worth it!

I've been taking the ferry for 8 years, living in CT it was the most convenient way to get to LI (I mean seriously who wants to deal with that drive?). Its okay, nothing special really just public transportation with an over priced snack bar.

Love the relaxing trip on the Port Jeff ferry whenever we need to get to Connecticut. The deck hands know what they are doing and always direct us safely on and off the boat. We sit near a window to have a view of the water as we travel across the Long Island Sound and have the option of getting... More

The ferry is a fast efficient way to travel from Long Island to Bridgeport, Connecticut. The hour and fifteen minute ride is quick and painless. It cuts out hours of driving on Long Island and through Westchester into Connecticut.
