Great way to cross the Long Island sound early in the morning or late in the afternoon to bypass all the city traffic around NY. Just make sure you buy something to eat on the main land since the food is way overpriced and the quality is not the greatest.

Have found the Bridgeport ferry to be very reliable and on time. One of the best ways to beat the traffic of the LIE in heading north. Well worth the cost.

I've used the Bridgeport Ferry a lot. My son goes up to school in Rhode Island so having this ferry right in our backyard makes the trip a cinch. It would be nice if they offered a discount if you used them a lot, but I think they did away with that awhile ago. And its probably cheaper to bring... More

We rode the ferry as part of a fundraiser for the Parish Resource Center. The food was delicious, the bar staff was polite and friendly. The staff was very courteous when boarding and exiting the boat. The ride was very smooth despite the inclement weather. Wonderful experience every time. We've done this for the past three years.

I had reserved a 2:30 slot from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson for a Friday afternoon. We arrived early and was told that we could take the ferry that was docked instead of waiting 2 more hours. The dock crew and the ship crew was extremely professional. They accommodated my last minute request to be parked near the elevator to make... More

My family goes up to Vt every year and we go up on the PJ ferry. It's much more convent than going through the city from Long Island, and much more pleasant too. I also went on the ferry every time I went to school in CT.

This is a private company that shuttles people back and forth between CT and LI. Expensive as it is private- it also makes it less fancy than the state run ferries you have in other places. It gets the job done and lets you avoid the bottleneck off long island, and for that it is worth it.

We love taking the ferry to Long Island, especially when we need to travel there on a Friday. Considering NYC traffic, the ferry can save you hours on your trip. The trip across is about 1 hour 15 minutes. It's a very pleasant ride, especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside. After usually being stuck in... More

The Port Jefferson Ferry is a great way to travel when heading to Connecticut. It is so much better then driving through the city and fighting traffic.
