Great Park

Mendon Ponds Park is close to my brother's house and we go biking, hiking, skiing and running there. The trails are well kept.

Mendon Ponds is beautiful! Full of cool geological history. Glaciers thousands and thousands of years ago left there mark for us to enjoy today. Lots of wildlife to look at, trails to hike, run or horseback. A big pond to swim and sail a boat on in the summer, hills to sled on in the winter. A popular place for... More

Although there are many fantastic parks in the greater Rochester area, this is one of our favorites! It is a fantastic place to escape to when you want to connect to nature without getting too far from everything. There is an abundance of trails to hike throughout the park and plenty of opportunities for bird/wildlife watching. Be sure to bring... More

Mendon Ponds is always a treat to visit. We have been there to walk, hike, run, sit, attend functions, feed the birds, Nordic ski, snowshoe, canoe, kayak, walk the dog etc. You can almost always see deer, birds on the ponds, chickadees plus various sightings of so much more. It's beautiful year round.

Spacious. You can always find a quiet spot. Great for summer picnics, fantastic for snow sleighing, beautiful autumn foliage. Hundreds of dear, raccoon, birds, foxes, etc. I love to go there, seat on a bench and just watch mother nature.

With so many beautifully maintained trails, lovely ponds, play areas and a beach you cannot go wrong taking a picnic to Mendon Ponds and enjoying this interesting geological area. Winter too is fun as the chickadees will land on your palm to take nibbles of food.

Whether you like to hike, bike, walk, fish, or just GET OUTSIDE, this huge park has something for everyone. The kettle lake is really cool, and I am just amazed at how well such an expansive park such as this is maintained. I'll stop here every time I come to Rochester!

I went to the park today with my kayak thinking I could enjoy a quiet time on the pond and catch a couple fish. Yes, I could ....sort of.... kayak. There are soooooooooo many weeds you are pulling them off your paddle just about every time it goes in the water. You can't fish for anything because it is so... More

Mendon Ponds Park is the epitome of the Audubon nature park. There are several miles of trails that wind through fields and deep forest, providing an opportunity to see a variety of birds, animals and plants. Several of the trails are short and flat for folks who don't do long hikes. There is a garden for butterflies and hummingbirds, with... More

The glacially-formed terrain includes several ponds, large and small. A great place to calmly kayak or canoe. Great trails, lots of deer, birds and other wildlife. Shady picnic spots. And even in the winter, there are plenty of opportunities for sledding. Nothing fancy, just a nice quite place to enjoy nature and take a break from life's busy pace.
