If you have little kids this is a great stop in Powder Mill Park. This is where through the years fish are raised and then released into the wild. At one time it was part of the park system but Riedman(Insurance Associates) became a great benefactor to the community and now is the prime source of funding. There are literally... More

This place is so fun to take little ones too. You can feed the fish and they jump out of the water and splash and the kids just think its great. There is also a little pavilion and bbq you can use to have a picnic

This is a beautiful part of Powder Mills Park. There are ponds around the Fish Hatchery with a blue heron keeping watch. There are also hiking trails and cabins.

I've not seen these in other cities or towns. Within this beautiful park are around twelve cement in-ground tanks where trout are grown and eventually released into the Irondequoit Creek. Fish food quarter-fed machines are near the tanks and you can feed the fish who clamor to get the food thrown into the water. Ducks and geese swim on the... More

It never gets old coming to the hatchery to feed the fish. The tanks have little plaques to tell you the age of the fish and what type they are. It is such a fun and interactive experience. You can have a lot of fun and it is just .25 cents a handful of fish food! Definitely worth a stop!

This little fish hatchery has been around for many years. It's open to the public - no charge and visitors can see large holding ponds of trout (several species) growing and thriving until they are released into local streams for fishermen (and women) to catch.

Bring your quarters and feed the fish. This area is very clean and well cared for. Very popular place to bring the little ones - they love it! Bring a blanket and have a picnic while you are there. Lots of trails for walking. Close to the Mushroom House and Daffodil Meadow.

This hatchery is a pretty interesting place to visit, especially if you've spent much time yourself with rod and reel in hand. Constructed in 1933, it is located in the middle of Powder Mills Park, and open year round. It is always fun to walk over and peek in the various long, rectangular pits and see the hatchlings in various... More

Used to go here as a child so I would definitely recommend taking your kids. My dad used to buy me food at one of the machines that sells fish food and I'd spend my time there watching the fish attack the food. Great place

This is a fun little spot to spend a half hour or so. There are always plenty of fish to feed. Food is a quarter for a handful. The fish jump up to get it and often splash a little, adding to the fun. There is a nice short trail into a small woods and an old swing hanging off... More
