Avoid the Throgg's Neck hassle and NYC traffic while enjoying an hour + cruise across Long Island Sound. Cross from Orient, NY (at the top Eastern End of LI) to New London. An especially easy drive to Central and Eastern Mass.

This is a convenient way to get from LI to CT. Our ferry was on time and lines not too long on a Thursday afternoon crossing. We opted to wait for our scheduled run on the larger vessel even though we arrived early enough to board the earlier crossing on a much smaller ferry.

This ferry is great! I have traveled on both Long Island ferries, and this is the clear winner. I have used the Cross Sound Ferry for the past 35 years, and I appreciate how the company has grown. The ferry continues to be clean and now even gives out coloring books to entertain kids... Living on the North Fork of... More

They don't have their act together. This was our first and last time on this ferry. They should take a trip on the Bridgeport-Port Jeff Ferry to see how professionals run a ferry system. They directed us to wedge our car under a staircase. My husband could not open the door to get out. There was no need for this... More

Was originally hesitant about the ferry trip over. Concerns were centered over day tripping along the LIE vs the ferry. Best choice by far is the ferry from CT to LI. Crew and staff were excellent. Conveniences on board including the deli/cafe/bar. Mid week off peak travel with a vehicle (bring a car to LI if you plan to day... More

As a resident of Tacoma, WA, I am used to taking large automobile ferries on the various routes around Puget Sound. I was surprised at how small the Cross Island ferry was in comparison to the ferries here in Washington. We took the Mary Ellen on a 4pm sailing from Orient Point to New London. The auto ramp to the... More

I have travelled on this ferry for over 30 years. They have their act together and well know what they are doing. Boarding and debarking are well handled. The only negative is the double deck ferry. Some of us had to park on the ramp with a 45 degree slope. Scary!

Needed the shortest route from Connecticut to Long Island so.... the Cross Sound Ferry was the best option. The key was to make reservations in advance. We received a 25% discount for the 7am ferry just b/c we called ahead. The check in system was very efficient as we pulled up and the attendant printed our tickets right at our... More

when you book a trip on a high speed ferry & once again it is NOT available it sort of wears thin on you. We took a round trip car ferry with a truck & trailer (reserved in advance) to connecticut with return trip pending on traffic. when we called to reserve a ride back to long island the associate...
