The house is not as opulent as those in Rhoda Island, but it is steeped in history. If you don't catch a tour (they were every hour on the hour) grab a self guided pamphlet and walk around the house yourself. The grounds are beautiful from the pool to the walled garden. When you drive onto the property, you pay... More

Admission was around $10 per car. If you are a fan of nature you could spend an entire day at this home. You can even bring a picnic basket to enjoy an outdoor meal with the family. The tour of the home is interesting and they have a beautiful garden with plenty of photo opportunities. I highly recommend if you're... More

Always something happening at Old Westbury Gardens. Stroll through the gardens, have a picnic lunch, sit back under a shady tree and read or explore the historic mansion. No strollers inside the mansion. Gift shop has teas, hand lotion, gardening gifts, books, nature themed souvenirs for the kids. Ladies room very comfortable with a real changing table, vanity and sitting... More

We were here in May, when the gardens are lovely (some were undergoing renovations) and the grounds are so large they never seem crowded even though you can tell from the number of cars there are a lot of people SOMEWHERE. Our family really holds this place special, thou, as the home of Santa. The first two weekends in December... More

Brought a picnic and ate on the grounds. They do have a small concession and sell drinks and wraps. Headed on up (the hill) to the "cottage". Listed as Charles II-style mansion. Nice but the gardens steal the show. Gorgeous azaleas and rhodas, tulips, some lilac. Large well kept grounds to stroll around. Bring water. South terrace offers expansive views... More
