First of all.... We live in the year 2014. When will people stop torturing animals for human satisfaction? When will the local people of Santorini stand up and say enough? Why has the Greek government done nothing? Why doesn't someone take a stance for these beautiful creatures? Any person ignorant enough to get on one of these poor Donkeys should... More

Firsr thing to mention is... To walk it yourself. It makes more sense you can take your time and see just as much! Santorini is a beautiful place apart from the donkey ride. You can see just as much or exactly the same without partaking in this cruel ride. I took the cable car for obvious reasons but later found... More

we thought this would be fun and hadn't read the previous reviews. I was on a donkey being whipped from behind to make him trot, ahead of me was a donkey tied to the wall and my donkey decided to go between that donkey and the wall leaving me no where to go but shunted off the back of the... More

I hate heights. I hate riding things. But i loved this experience. Don’t do it if you’re alone. Rather, do it with a group of your close friends. I can assure you that the experiences you will have, the smells you will smell, the sights you will see, will be unforgettable! I had an absolutely fantastic time :) Five stars!!!

We arrived by Cruise ship MSC Fantasia and docked along with approx 2000 other people. The cable car was running but we decided to go up via traditional way the Donkey. They charge 5 euro each person and slap the donkeys rear end and off you go. This is very very steep and all on cobbles so very slippery. The... More

One star simply because Santorini is the island that launched a thousand postcards and truly beautiful. My wife who is disabled and walks with difficulty and I visited on a cruise and took the cable car to the top of the island. The cable car subsequently broke down and there is no obvious way down to the ships save via... More

I am honestly in awe bye the reviews of people encouraging others to ride donkeys at Santorini. This is not an attraction, poor animales have to walk up and down a huge road of steps more than 20 times a day. I never saw them being feed or watered, they look skinny and most of all miserable. This is ANIMAL... More

We had so much fun doing this. I guess it all comes down to your perception! No one speaks English, the donkeys don't go where you want them to, pedestrians are at rick and thw road is paved in donkey doo! Much better than walking! Do it!!

This is something NOONE should miss; it doesn't even matter how old you are :) When you come back from a great day out on the water, visiting the volcano, and swimming, and you land back at the shores of your Island paradise, Santorini, you have 2 options to get up to the top of the caldera and to your... I read what others have said about this, and I cannot agree more!!the donkeys were very, very, weary, hungry and didnt get any water in this heat. We walked down the stairs and tried to give Our water to donkeys, but the farmers refused!! I am shocked of this and hope the authoretis can save this animals and build more cable cars or something.
