This is a cruel existence for these animals. Having some lazy human ride up and down on the side of the hill when there is a cable car metres away. I refused to do it but 4 of my friends did it and there was a very tired and exhausted donkey laid out flat on the walk most likely wishing... More

This is animal abuse and should not be supported. Take the cable car instead, the donkeys are not treated with the respect they deserve. Walking this path is also not recommended, slippery from excrement.

Our first trip to Santorini. Lovely Island, its May so a bit chilly at night, although have seen plenty of people in full winter gear. Walked down to the old port today, word of warning if youre an animal lover, the donkeys were tethered to the walls along the path. I personally found it upsetting to see so many donkeys... More

I did the ride late morning, today. I read many reviews last night and was having second thoughts. I decided this morning that I would take the cable car to the bottom and check out the situation. I saw many donkeys ready to be rode. I thought they looked healthy. The workers were alittle crazy but don't mean that in... More

Tiere werden ganztags gequält, verwundet und nicht versorgt!! Bitte keine Nachfrage mehr generieren!! Don't increase the demand of riding the poor donkeys! They've been maltreated all life long. Stop it - to stop them! Please! You can't imagine what I've seen with my eyes. Ne pas acheter! Les animaux viennent maltraites toute la journée Sous le soleil en plus sans... More

It's impressive how many reviewers come along, see a massive near vertical cliff, a hard stone path zigzagging up to the top, waiting donkeys, have a ride anyway, and THEN become huge animal lovers afterwards, telling everyone else to avoid the activity they just did because of cruelty. No doubt plenty went on to tuck into meat based lunches as... More

Most upsetting! Took the gondola up and because of the long lineup for the gondola down we chose to walk down the donkey walk. It was a hot, humid day (Aug 2012) and the donkeys looked so tired and hot. There was zero water for them. I tried to pour water from my bottle onto the ground for one donkey... More

I had a big debate with my wife about sitting on those donkeys and we just couldn't. Making them walk up and down those slopes on a daily basis is just ridiculous. Please take the cable car instead.

What an experience to ride on these animals up and down the steep slopes of this amazingly beautiful island. It was truly unforgettable.
