Something to do on a wet day ...

Yes, we enjoyed it. I found it an eclectic mix of all manner of artifacts, that didn't necessarily quite come together?

Not nearly enough information to be a truly amazing naval museum but if you like sailing I'm sure for the 3 euro entrance fee you'll see some things worth the price of admission.

Naval Museum of Oia is a "window" back in time regarding the Naval Maritime Life of Santorini's people. Also, many Santorinians were great Captains of shipsand very good Naval architects. Worths a visit!

Disappointing! There were enough interesting exhibits to make it worth a visit with some fascinating models. But the spot lights were out upstairs so it was very hard to read anything and engage in detail. Some English translations were helpful but a bit hit and miss and some labels were on the wrong exhibits so one way or another we... More

We try to see a maritime museum in each city. This had ancient figureheads off ships, the biggest mooring anchor I have seen a two capstans, one iron , one wood. Three large displays of knots and monkey fists. Small fee to enter.

We had already read the reviews for this site and knew what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. There were more signs put up than we expected and the lady that was on duty was very informative. It doesn't open on Tuesdays but when we visited it didn't open on Wednesday either as someone was very angry, so the... More

It costs 3 euro to go to this museum and actually it should be free. They do not have a brochure that is printed in English or any English explanations of the things in the didplay. The items they showed are not of any huge interest. A very dated and boring museum. Don't waste your money or time... buy a... More

My wife and I visited the Maritime Museum during our recent stay in Oia. While we enjoyed seeing the many artifacts and documents we were struck by the lack of care in preserving these items. I'm not sure exactly why more effort had not been made (eg. photographs not mounted on acid free archival paper) but I suspect many of... More

It is shelter from the rain only. Such an old fashioned place with few explanations in English and little explanations of what the stuff is. This could be a museum f rom war times and nothing has changed since then. :-(

Some interesting artefacts, but insufficient information to accompany the exhibits. More information about life and historical maritime Santorini would give much needed context to the items on display, particularly the photographs. The figureheads are the highlight in my opinion. Still, it's air conditioned. If you consider the entrance fee a donation towards the conservation of Santorini's history (let's face it... More
