Walk the winding cobblestone pathways towards the ruins and you will have many splendid photo ops. The views of Oia from ruins are postcard perfect.

If you don't have a view from your accomodation this is where everyone seems to go to watch the sunset. Can get crowded but as we had a great view from our terrace at Esperas Traditional Cave Houses we didn't need to fight the crowds to watch the sunset

Hey, Oia is great for sun, food, wine, and relaxing with not a long list of things to do besides boat or helicopter rides - which is ok. Having a relaxing holiday to unplug is great. So taking the short walk to the castle ruins is a good thing to do, when you are tired of relaxing or shopping. It... More

We started walking through town and were enjoying looking around the various shops when we came upon the castle ruins. We were there around 1:30pm after all of the hordes of people from the tour busses left. It was hot but the views were spectacular of the town of Oia, the caldera and the water. It a one of the... One of my big regrets of the year will be not spending more time in Oia. This charming little place is absolutely stunning. World Heritage site standard. We arrived on a tour from a cruise ship and were only given forty minutes. That was really only enough to walk from the car park to the castle and back. Needless to... More

After a leisurely walk through the town and shops, we walked up here and were amazed at the beauty of this spot. The views of the town and the white and blue churches are great, and the views of the islands and the town nestled in the volcanic rock and the turquoise water below are just amazing. We came here... The castle is a great place to watch the Oia suset. Go early to claim your spot and bring food. I arrived at 1630. By 1700 the spots were filled and tripods were in place. It is crowded at 1900 but it was worth it. If you want to dodge the crowds the steps to Ammoudi Bay is another option... More

Perfect spot to take beautiful pictures of Oia and Caldera. Try to go in the morning or around 4 PM, if not it will be either very hot or crowded. We visited in August.

Got there around lunch time, have to arrive early for a good place to take some excellent pictures as later in the evening the place is inundated with tourists trying to catch the perfect sunset, lovely place very picturesque
