Lovelly bay

The best beach in Santiago. Lovelly bay of calm water and white sand. Enjoy the fisherman activities and the young boys jumping to water!

During our visit in Tarrafal we visited the small beach several times. It's a nice little beach were many locals come to enyoy the ocean. If you want there is a fresh water shower witch you can use. On top of the beach there are two restaurants.

This was a complete waste of time really, it just looked like any other beach. Trips here are uninspiring, the best bit is driving the 4x4's

Let's face it, you don't go to the island of Santiago because of the beaches. If you want that, Sal or Boavista are probably better options. Taking that into account, nevertheless the beach of Tarrafal is quite nice and definetly worth the time to go there if you are in Santiago.

Fabulous! A working beach with superb swimming and plenty of good sand to lie on or play in. Perfectly located, ample space, nice restaurant above it and all in all a terrific place to hang out for a day or a week.

This beach offers a beautiful setting with the mountains behind it. I found it very quiet for most of the day, except when the fishermen brought in their catch in their colourful boats. Apparently it livens up a bit at the weekend when people come from elsewhere on the island. There are a few cafes/restaurants nearby, but it has an... More

Colourful fishermensboats on the sandy beach, palmtrees, no parkingfees, lots of fishing activities on the beach, nice view from a good restaurant, picturesque village. Interesting concentrationcamp (Salazar period - historic site) before entering town.
