We walk along the Whirlpool Scenic Overlook Trail with views of the swirling rapids and whirlpools of the Niagara River and the lower Niagara Gorge. Along the trail are informative signs about the Niagara Gorge’s history. The trail is easy walking and there were very few people on the trail. Across the river, on the Canadian side, is the Spanish... More

The view of the gorge is very pretty. Of the whirlpool itself all you will basically see is some white water twirling around and maybe a boat from one of those whirlpool tours. There is also a cable car that will take you across the gorge.

THe views of the river from walk are just breathtaking. I would recommend that one does this, as the crowds thin out at this end. Its nice and quite.

We just figured more water...but when you get there and see it...wow...have to see it in person. The pictures of it don't do much for it. Just to go and watch it as the water turns around just like a whirlpool. Our family loved it.

I am a local and this is one of my favorite starting points for a great walk. The park is kept neat and tidy, bathrooms are seasonal, and they provide drinking bowls for the four-legged friends that visit. You get a great view of the whirlpools and Canadian gondola ride. It's a 1/2 walk to Devil's Hole Park. Wear sturdy... More

Good amount of parking; decent bathroom. This is where the gorge trail began. Nice hike, but you must watch your step.

We didn't know whether to stop here or not....but ever so glad we did. It is something to see and read about. Words can not discribe the experience and feeling we got when we were here. Truely is something you have to experience for yourself. What Mother Nature does is hard to believe at times. You even get an eerie... More

My family including my senior mother and three outdoor friendly kids (13, 10, and 7) took on the Niagara River Gorge Trail. The views are beautiful but the trail has sustained some serious damage which makes it "difficult". The trail is popular and the trail-goers are very friendly. We went in July and the weather was perfect! Best part- free!... More
