There are stairs. Lots of them. Uneven, old, broken and tiny stairs. You have to climb down them to get the best up close and personal views of Devil's Hole. You can continue hiking the circuit and come up some stairs by Whirlpool Falls, but I can say, with three small children, the hiking trail became somewhat sketchy and we... More

The gorge is a magnificent place to admire the Niagara river. The trails at this location are definitely for moderate or higher level walkers/hikers. Need to bring water and even granola bars. A light healthy snack and plenty of fluids especially if you haven't hiked it previously. The steps are steep and going up is way harder than going down.... More

Get down the Devil's hole state park and walk towards the whirlpool rapids, the trail is good at places but some of the areas are a bit steep and require some caution as on the other end is a 20-30 foot drop into the rapidly flowing water. When you arrive at the whirlpool rapids, there is a large section of... More

The complete walk was a little longer than I expected but well worth it. We started at the EZ end of the walking path but the stairs to climb out of the gorge was tiring. It's a must do

We did not hike down to the river because we didn't have enough time. The views are dramatic. This section of the river is extremely interesting.

Absolutely beautiful all times of year and great exercise! I recommend packing a picnic and lots of water. Hike down and find a spot to eat lunch over looking the gorge and then make your way back to the top.

We didn't go on the lower hiking trails due to time--maybe that would have been better--access was a bit confusing.

An amazing natural phenomenon! This section of the river has the Whirlpool, the lower rapids and some smooth water as well. It's amazing to watch the Jetboat make its way up to the Whirlpool.

Nice area for hiking and the scenery is fantastic. Go in the summer. Watch out for snakes sunning on the rocks near the water.
