We did not hike down to the river because we didn't have enough time. The views are dramatic. This section of the river is extremely interesting.

Absolutely beautiful all times of year and great exercise! I recommend packing a picnic and lots of water. Hike down and find a spot to eat lunch over looking the gorge and then make your way back to the top.

We didn't go on the lower hiking trails due to time--maybe that would have been better--access was a bit confusing.

An amazing natural phenomenon! This section of the river has the Whirlpool, the lower rapids and some smooth water as well. It's amazing to watch the Jetboat make its way up to the Whirlpool.

Nice area for hiking and the scenery is fantastic. Go in the summer. Watch out for snakes sunning on the rocks near the water.

Do yourself a favor and venture downstream from the falls for this scenic hike. The steps/trail down to the river are in bad shape, making the hike a little challenging, but anyone in moderate shape can do it. The trail connects to Gorge Overlook and Whirlpool State Park. Parking is free.

Only a few minutes down the road from Whirlpool State Park. You can not see the Devils Hole from the overlook. You have to hike down. While hiking beware of the rocks along the barrier wall. They are razor sharp.

Connects with trails to Whirlpool State Park, The scenery in my opinion is some of the most dramatic in the region. Consider an organized hike if new to hiking and bring plenty of water and food.

Moderately difficult walk down a rock staircase, along the Niagara River and a good look into the huge gorge. Fresh and clean tasting air are worth the steep climb down. Absolutely invigorating experience. Take 2-3 hours if you want to savor the air and watch the rapid water rushing past.
