The lake was partly frozen and there was a light dusting of snow on the ground during our visit. The winter landscape made for an absolutely gorgeous backdrop to our hike. We walked a bit over 3 miles doing the lake loop and wandering down some of the footpaths - it's pretty easy to adjust the distance you want to... More

This place was gorgeous, even in the winter. 10 minute walk down to the waterfall and you could pretty much turn around then.

Great views. Nice hike. Beautiful lakes and scenery. Picnic tables. If you go in season - weekends from April to October and any time from June through August - watch out for people who don't know how to ride their bikes or keep to one side. People come up from NYC and other areas and act like they own the... More

Lake Minnewaska has so many options fir a small hike...or an all day hike! You can do a beginner hike ( mostly all flat walking) just to the top of awosting falls...or hike to the bottom! You can hike or drive up to the lake itself.

Only had a short time to visit the park. Came mainly to see the falls. Awosting falls are just inside the entrance to the park. You walk down a short road alongside the stream and you come upon the falls at the top. You can get so close and see the bottom of the falls below. Then you take the... More

This park is a great place to spend a day especially in fall when the leaves are turning. The many trails that crisscross the park are easy to moderate to traverse and some of the overlooks are just breathtaking. There are minimal entrance fee's but free for seniors.

Nice and relatively easy walk around the lake (1.5 hours) that gets you great views of the lake and the area. We came for fall views and definitly got some. Near the end there was a fork that you can take - either continue along the lake or go the other way to see a great panorama of the valley.... More

We love going here because it has something for everyone. There are long flat carriage roads to hike on or more challenging rock scrambles up to the ridge.
