It was a gorgeous day and we were in town to check out the leaves. Stopped at the dam for a little while and walked around. Tons of geese and turkey vultures!

You just can not imagine it, you just have to see to believe how this place can hold back the enormous amount of water that flows there during snow melt and heavy rainfalls. When we were there wasn't much water in the river but we seen pictures and were in awe of it.

The Mount Morris Dam is a must see in Letchworth State Park. It is not actually in Letchworth so there is no cost. It is an impressive dam, the biggest of its kind east of the Mississippi River. It has a nice visitors center and a cool playground. The dam is almost always dry. The toilets in the visitor's center... More

What a terrific experience! We were part of the 11am tour in mid September. The guide was so funny and loves her job! Yes, this is a dry dam.....but it is supposed to be! The FREE tour took us into the bowels of the dam.....so cool! Learning how the dam operated and the history made me appreciate the gorge in... More

Tour was great with the kids, very informative. Guide was great. The one tour for the day started at 2PM, so check time before going and arrive early enough to register. Check out the small exhibit center too (maybe 30-40 mins to look at all). Requires some walking for 1/2 mile or so (downhill to dam and then back up... More

This was a pleasant surprise. 1) Only 2 tours a day. 11 AM and one in afternoon - don't remember time. 2) Get there about 10 - 10:30 AM to reserve slot--they go fast. 3) Then watch the short video about dam...makes experience better. 4) Great tour for adults and kids...our guide was wonderful with the kids. 5) Also good... The tour takes you within the bowels of the dam. Very informative and humorous guide! Great history of it being built is shared. There is a video to view before the tour and small museum to explore afterward as well.

Since this is a dry damn, there isn't much to see but the guides are funny, it gives you a great view from on top of the damn, and they have some cool exhibits. On top of all of that, it is free!

...all of that was underground! Our tour guide Tom gave us a free tour of the dam. It was so very interesting... from the echo to the condensation to the amount of concrete it took to construct this dam to the live video of the new born birds in the children's section of the main building. Fabulous and truly worth... More
