We wanted to go to Ditch Plains but didn't have a Town Permit nor could we buy a day pass, so we parked free at Shadmoor State Park, hiked 20 minutes down to the bluffs and onto the beach at Ditch Plains, the views and the walk were awesome !, bring backpack chairs

We do this easy hike every year with our nature group: The Littoral Society. It is an easy relatively flat trail that leads to magnificent bluffs that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. We passed World War 2 relics as we strolled. My husband and I have never gotten a tick on this hike. Please wear long pants and bug repellant (we... More

We did a number of different hikes on our recent 4 day trip to Montauk. This was one of our favorites due to the cliffside seaside views. I do agree with the other posting to do a tick check after your hike.

Grew up on Seaside Ave. so I know ticks very well. Moved away years ago so when we came back to visit my first request was a walk out into the cliffs. Can't park on Seaside Ave. , we would get a ticket now with no house anymore. So we accessed the park from the Shadmore parking lot in 25.... More

Very interesting walk out to the ocean with beautiful views. On the way, pass concrete bunkers from WWII - historical. We stopped here on a bike ride - took a short hike and snack break and back on the road. Great stop, interesting - would definitely recommend.

Not really clear why they call this a nature walk. It's mostly dusty, paths in no particular direction, a few outcroppings and then a really breathtaking look at the ocean. But I wasn't very thrilled because we could have driven to the ocean and saved all the bugs and scratches getting there.

We walked along the beach from the "Sloppy Tuna" to Ditch Plains. After watching the surfers we walked back along the hiking trail in Shadmoor that over looks the ocean along the cliffs aka VooDoos.

Short hiking trails that end at beautiful cliffs. Just watch out for ticks. Best to go during the week so you'll have more privacy. Can get crowded on weekends when the weather is nice.

This small park has some short trails with great views. If you come by car, be sure to park at the parking lot on Montauk Highway / Rt. 27. Seaside Avenue is a private road and parking is prohibited--you will be ticketed there.
